Block Fortress: War 12+

A very good strategy game with very good graphics and style of game play, I think App Store barely have any real time strategy games as this, but this game is just brillant. This game is not really a pay to win style game (albeit a few micro transactions), not only you buy stronger gears for your races, it also involves creativity, how your troops are equipped and how your towers are placed.

The only thing is, it never got any major updates in a while. I just hope this game gets updated. However, the only thing I want to point out is that gameplay can become repetitive as playing the same missions all and over again (becomes a problem when you unlocked all the races) and there are barely any challenges. Also multiplayer, little players to zero :/.

The App Store tends to trend to more brain dead games that are put together in a day without thought or merit. However block fortress war doesn’t fit in any of those categories as it is a masterfully designed game that obviously had passionate developers who worked on it.

The game has a extensive amount of content to it that is not locked around a pay wall, there are 5 different races each with their own 3 heroes or commanders who lead them. In addition each race can play very differently as each has their own play styles, for example zomblocks can only build up on their power blocks making it harder to defend as them with direct damage, but they have very powerful buff blocks that do stuff such as local units waves take reduced ranged damage or local enemy units having decreased damage output. On the other side you have the block men who have long range 50 cal machine guns and heavy artillery / missile batteries but their units suffer in melee and only spawn in unit groups of 3.

There is also a campaign for each race where you fight the 4 other races on there respective planets with 5 specialised missions each.

There is a lot more I am missing and I want to get back to Starcraft so to summarise, don’t miss the opportunity to play this game, I guarantee you will be pleased.

I remember back when I was younger how I first discovered this series of games and to think it’s gone from a base building defence game to a real time strategy game while still keeping that old nostalgic look to it, i highly recommend this game to anyone interested in a strategy game that’s fun both in multiplayer and single player especially since it goes further then most strategy games and actually lets you equip your soldiers as you see fit.
