My lord, what an update...
Certainly the best arcade shoot-em-up on the app store. It has the originality, it has the style, it has the controls but especially it has the addictive challenging gameplay games of this genre demands. All it needs is sound!
Edit: now it has sound, as well as music, plus much much more.
First off is a complete menu system, thus finishing off the checklist where presentation is concerned, but it is the new content you access through the menus that truly surprise. We can now take on each level individually, to perfect our strategies in each one before you attempt the marathon, better yet for those veterans of this game we can now skip straight to where it becomes truly tricky.
To top all this off we now have missions/achievements for each level. Completing a level clears it in a colour but to attain the new medals you have to work a lot harder in each level and allow yourself to be overwhelmed in order to get that medal.
All added to global leaderboard score tracking! One could not ask for anything more.
Simply put, any issue a person could of had with the original version has now been rectified and then some.
So it truly deserves top marks, and hopefully now top sales. Keep at it, mate, you make wonderful games. ;)
Futuristic game app to match the futuristic iPhone
Great fun, great controls...which in all great games take a little bit of getting used to. I especially like the way you have to move the iPhone around in your hand as the 'view' changes between some stages... and as everyone else seems to be saying... CAN WE HAVE SOME SOUND PLEASE?! Some sort of new age background sound with 'whumps' or 'pings/tinkles' when enemy craft are hit...it would go with the overall feel of what otherwise is a class game... thanks people
What a great little blaster
I think this has to be one of the best shooters on the iPhone!!!! I will warn you all that, yes it doesn't have any music or sound effect...that is it's only fault.
It has ample playability and the difficulty is just right. The graphics are "old school retro" which is not a bad thing. I love the glow to the characters and the trace trails from the enemies, superb retro graphics and gameplay!!!!!
I can't wait to see if a future update will include sound effects? The game is crying out for sound and if the author of this great little shooter is listening, then please, please can you include some effects and even better a great menu and in-game music, cuz if this is possible, I believe as a game developer myself, you'll have a little gem on your hands and it will surely so down as one of the greatest shoot-em ups on the iPhone!
It reminds me if another superb game that would work amazingly well on the iPhone...hope SEGA are listening, as REZ really needs to appear on this amazing new fame platform that us the iPhone.
Superb effort by the author on this and looking forward to a future update to Defend!
