Good but irksome
Love the game. It’s fast fun and addictive. Tried and tested.
However three things frustrate me.
1, I don’t like how you can play with no power ups yet your opponent could run with a full set. I think it would be more competitive if the challenger set the power ups. That way if you win, you do so fairly.
2, The daily bonus prize seems to reset at completely random times. It certainly isn’t on a 24hour (daily!!) cycle. I’ll play at 11pm and collect a prize then but then upon logging in at 8am the following day I’m informed I’ve missed the window for the next one. Just doesn’t make sense.
3, THE CONSTANT ADVERTS!
Great game but but laden with bugs
I’ve been playing this game for many years now. It is a great game to play when it is working but it is soooo buggy. Sometimes you start the game and the tiles are blank instead of having letters on them. If a notification comes through while you are playing a game, then all of the sound turns off and you have to restart the app to get sound back. Right now, and this has been the case for months and months, despite having deleted and reinstalled the app, I cannot get in to edit my profile or access the settings. The Edit and Setting buttons don’t respond at all when I try to access. At one time, they sometimes responded if you pressed on them multiple times and sometimes they didn’t (which is still unacceptable). The processes surrounding development and testing of this game at Zynga cannot be very robust at all.
Okay but power ups are ridiculous
This is an okay game, but a few irritating things about the app. The ads are a little annoying, but tolerable. Rewards for levelling up don’t work - they’re not being applied to my account so that’s now not an incentive to play on. This is especially so because the game emphasises speed of finding words over rewarding you for finding long and distinctive words. The result is that everyone just uses freeze time boosts to increase the volume of words found. This doesn’t really seem in keeping with the spirit of the original game. Neither do the power ups. It’s fairly obvious that if you have 30 seconds more time than the other player then you’ll win. The imbalance created by the boosts is ridiculous.
