Great free alternative to Kindle
Great app for borrowing and reading books. A few bug bears - like it would be nice to have a rewind 30 secs button on the iPhone lock screen for audio books (it currently rewinds to the beginning of the chapter which is not very useful.)
Think there’s a bit of a misconception about how this app works. It’s linked to your local library and the deal they have made with Borrow Box. Therefore if a book is on loan, the licensing contract means they can’t lend it out again and you can’t borrow it until it has been returned. (And yes, the person borrowing it might renew it - too bad.) This isn’t rocket science and is how libraries work! A lot of people are complaining about this but it’s really down to the deal your library has made with borrow box and the deal borrow box has made with the various publishers. They can’t just lend out endless copies of a book or they would get sued! If you want the exact book available to you then buy it elsewhere. Otherwise, look through what’s available here for free! Beggars can’t be choosers.
I no more have to trek out in harsh colds to retrieve a book from the library or spend xxx pounds on something I don’t even know if I’ll enjoy. This app is fantastic. Revolutionary. I really like it and it mimics a real library with how you can loan and reserve things. I have read so many books ever since I got it and saved so much money.
The app is quite almost perfect but I would love for their to be a feature where you can make small comments on the sides or even highlight little snippets of a little paragraph to keep later. I would truly love that as I think it is beneficial to effective reading.
Very good, but I have one problem
I love this app so much. According to Settings, I have spent 11.8 hours on this app during the past 7 days. I am always engrossed in a good book on BorrowBox and it saves you so much time, money and effort, as you don’t have to go to the shops and buy book or walk down to the library to get them. I definitely recommend downloading BorrowBox.
The only problem is, I am reading the Harry Potter series at the moment and I am hoping to get them finished before a certain time, however the next book I need to read is going to be available in over a month and I will need it before then. I am going to end up having to borrow a copy or buy the book but I much prefer getting them on here because I like reading them in different fonts and themes. My point is I would like this app much, much more if there were more copies of the books. The Harry Potter books are of course very popular (like many others) so I was hoping that these books and a few other popular stories would be able to have more than one copy.
Thank you for reading 💕
