Editors’ Notes

No more frantic inbox searches before leaving for the airport. No more desperate bag-rustling at the departure gate. This app puts every piece of our essential information (outside reminding us to pack a toothbrush) in one beautifully clean place. Pro tip: adding the widget to your Notification Centre serves up details on your flight number, departure time and flight status.

I recently took a flight from Larnaca to London Heathrow. On checking in on the BA app on my phone I wanted to add a bag as I booked my ticket without one. As soon as I entered check-in I wanted to add my bag and before I knew it it had checked me in without me being able to pay for my bag. Once this has happened you then have to pay an extra €20 at the airport instead of €55 online it costs €75 at the airport. Normally when checking in you have to confirm seat and then enter confirm and checkin this didn’t happen. Unfortunately BA is really lowering its standards and milking its regular customers which is a big mistake. There are so many other companies offering great services.
Wake up BA and sort your app out!!!

Also people traveling with only hand luggage always get allocated the middle seat of the three seats in the middle why?

Rated 1 star as zero wasn’t an option

I’ve been trying to access my app for approximately 3 weeks after setting it up and it not recognising - or maybe it was a typo on my part - my initial password. I have asked for a password reset around 10 times now - on the day of my flight still nothing. I can’t download my boarding pass onto my phone - which would not be such a problem if BA’s mobile site was any good. Unfortunately though that won’t show the whole boarding pass and there’s no way seemingly of saving it locally on my phone in a place and format that makes it easily accessible. The most annoying thing of all - and this is not exclusive to BA - is the blind arrogance that means corporations force you down their App road promising a ‘more efficient and streamlined service’. This is rarely the case and it ends up with half-baked systems on the web and in apps and the conclusion there is no one testing the user experience. On top of awful VeriFLY - also forced to use and also terrible - BA have added another layer of complexity and stress. Okay it’s my choice to travel and its possible to overcome, but please stop saying using the app is making a more efficient service. Nothing could be further from the truth.
