Brother iPrint&Scan 4+

As the old Brother Control Centree stopped working on the newer versions of OS. I've had to adopt this poor step Brother of a version.
PDF are non croppable and I really wish Brother would've just updated the old control suite which was absolutely fantastic. Now scanning the smallest doc such as a passport or driving licence to PDF creates a whole page document. To be honest I can't remember how the old one worked and I'm slowly coming to grips with this version. You have to download somehting else to go with it that comes up when you install. But it does what it's supposed to in the end I suppose.

I don't usually write reviews but to save other people the effort it just doesn't work. Having recently upgraded to Big Sur it is disappointing to find drivers for my workhorse HL1210 printer not available. Searching Brother online leads you to download this as the alternative. You cannot print straight from an app but have to open this to find the file to then print it. Having searched all night tonight I cannot find a way to print a Word document, only will allow me to print pdf and photos. I appreciate that this is mainly used as an iOS app but come on Brother, if you are going to tout it as an OS app at least give it basic some functionality - not being able to print a Word document is just crazy!

Contrary to the other reviews I found the app works wellwith any OS version and devices to print wireless over wi-fi, once set up. You may not need this app often because other applications will work directly with the Brother printer(s) by choosing 'Print' within most applications.

This app is most useful to set up the printer settings on your computer for the wirelessly connected printer, rather than using the navigation buttons on the printer itself.
