Ratings and Reviews
Ok - scanning is a little painful
Airprint does most of the heavy lifting so I only really use this app for scanning, which is pretty painful.
I’m delighted with my Brother printer and it works seamlessly with Airprint and the quality is great -as does the scanner - but a bit of an update on the scanning side would be ideal so I don’t have to fire up the desktop to scan.
Appreciate the potential cost implications of adding pdf functionality, but scan to pdf for multiple pages would be amazing, but I’m not holding my breath!
Random Issue With IOS
When scanning it doesn’t always give an option to save to Dropbox. Would be useful to be able to add Dropbox as an option on settings. Issue seems to happen from the second time you scan. Close app and rescan seems to be the way around. Also when scanning to email if you forget to enter email and you add text in email body you can not go up to the email address field as it keeps jumping back to bottom of message.
It would seem in the recent updates it now means you cannot scan to pdf to email directly without first shunting the scanned image to say Dropbox. A backward step. When my printer breaks I won’t be replacing with a Brother machine. A 20+ year relationship down the drain.
A great app - when it works
This is a great app - when it works, which for me is about 25% of the time on my iPhone 5 and iPad Air, and I never know which 25%. I find I have to wake the printer up by accessing the app and checking my Brother MFC-J5620DW is awake and about 10% of the time there is no response. Should it show as awake and you attempt to print, about 50% of the time the data arrives at the printer and it sits and chews on it but does nothing. About 25% of the time it spits out a blank page and considers the job done, but just occasionally - it works, which is joyous. I don’t know where the problem lies, the Brother app, my apps, ios, the router or the printer. I have not yet managed to fathom it out and life is too short.
