After getting cheated on to years ago by my 7 year childhood love I was absolutely adamant I wouldn’t find anybody again and I didn’t believe men in this generation were gonna be for me and I was gonna be riding it solo for a long time after failed attempts talking stages and just enjoying life I finally accepted I was happy alone and I could be okay .. then may of this year came around and my friend suggested I try bumble .. I’d downloaded it two days after I matched with somebody who I found to be my type and we got talking as he messaged me first we just hit it of the bat right away we didn’t waste time we met the day after and it was amazing how much we had in common … as things progressed we met two more times and went on a v serious date … we both agreeed it was the best laugh and night we had in ages … then things took a turn in our life we had so much going on as he worked away and I was worrying over job changes etc we lost contact for a month and u couldn’t help but feel worse off with him gone … by the end of the month going into a month and a half i got a text from him saying he missed me and we need a fresh start and a try again because this wasn’t worth us wasting and he was right we went on two more dates and this one being the most romantic perfect night in my life we danced we drank we ate we talked until the early morning it was like something out of a Rom com …. I even have the Photo Booth photo to pair with it !!! It was then we got together as a couple so I guess I just have to thank you guys because you read them and never think there real …. I believe you guys now …. I couldn’t be more happy !!!

Having lost my wife of 16 years to cancer early last year and now being a single parent to four daughters I struggled to think how I would meet someone new. Who wants to get with a widower with 4 kids I thought. 21st century dating seemed so scary, I was adamant I would not try dating sites but after a few attempts at real life dating not going so well and with friends and family constantly telling me to try online I finally plucked up the courage. I liked the idea of the woman having to make the first move so chose to join Bumble. The sign up process was really simple and before I know it I was all set up. I spent a few minutes swiping and getting used to how it all works then 4 hours later I got a match. We got talking the next day and just instantly had a connection. We met up for a date shortly after and things have just gone from strength to strength since. We’re now in a relationship and I can honestly say that signing up to Bumble and being matched with her is the best thing to happen to me for ages. So for anyone nervous about giving online dating a go, just get yourself out there, you might get lucky like I did and meet the girl of your dreams. Thank you Bumble for helping me find love again when I’ve spent most of the last couple of years thinking there was no chance of that happening.

A warning to straight men.

You are just cattle on this app. I haven’t had a specifically negative experience but I just want to highlight a few things: Despite talking a good game about female empowerment, around 90% (I just counted) of women will start conversations with a gif or “hi”. You are still very much expected to bring the conversation to these interactions. Why does this app even let women open with a gif exactly, and where are all these intelligent empowered women I keep hearing about? Second, the filters on the app only cater to what women want. You can filter by height despite conflicting with feminist messages of body shaming, because it’s something women care about (I’m 6’1”, no bitterness here I just don’t like hypocrisy). Imagine men asking to filter by weight which men actually care about. Absolutely zero chance, because that would be body shaming right? Finally, you will also be presented with trans women as if you shouldn’t see them any differently to biological women, and you have no option to filter them out. Insane bending to the woke mob. Any argument to “just swipe past them” falls down at the existence of any other filter. Again, not an overall bad experience, conversations I’ve had have generally been pleasant and I do feel like my profile is being shown. But this hypocrisy just makes me resentful and makes me not want to support a company like this. This app is so concerned with women that it does the bare minimum to cater for what men want from a dating app.
