Ratings and Reviews
This app has the worst user interface I have ever encountered in 30 years of using computers.
To get into the app, you have to enter a PIN number. This app goes against all intuition by making you tap a number first to highlight it, then double tap it again to enter the number. Why? This is the most frustrating experience ever, I have an iPhone so I expect when I tap the number 3, it will enter the number three, why oh why would you make it work differently?
After 20 minutes of frustration, I finally got into the app, and was presented with a menu. One would expect to tap to select the menu item, but that doesn’t work here. I tried tapping and double tapping, nothing worked, then I was logged out again. Another 10 minutes to enter my pin again (why doesn’t it remember it?) and finally discovered you have to swipe to access a menu item. Tried to access a book, but it just kept playing a sample. It asked if I wanted to borrow the book, but nothing I did would make this happen.
Utterly unusable, whoever designed this app has evidently not used any kind of computer, cash point, calculator or any other kind of interface before.
No need for built-in speech
Just downloaded the app and so far, no go. There's no need for built-in speech since people use whatever speech is available on their mobile device. Please, please please dispense with the built-in speech so that we can use Voiceover or whatever else we" use on our mobile devices. I haven't been able to use the app yet. A redesign is needed. Please just build the app so that the icons are visible on the screen and able to be read by the device's own speech system, whether that be Voiceover or Talkback and so on. Good effort though.
An absolutely impossible app to use. I cannot believe this was tested with visually impaired users. I am blind and use voice-over on iOS. I tried using this app with and without voice-over, as it has its own speech, but it is equally unusable. I had no problems with entering my membership number and pin as the double tap to insert is a Familia gesture, however once in the app all gestures are completely new and not remotely intuitive. Quite by accident I managed to download a book, however it was not a book that I actually wanted so I tried for some time to return the book, absolutely no chance. Such a shame because I really wanted to be able to download Books rather than receive CDs to play on my very old Daisy machine. I hope the developers take note of all the negative reviews and completely redesign this app.
