New update: there is a bug in the latest update that ignores the system calendar "week starts on" setting.I'm posting it here because the developer's only contact details are for twitter, but on twitter he says he's not checking twitter and I have to sign up to Mastodon. I'm not doing any more social media accounts so I hope the developer is still reading reviews. Update: I still use this app all the time for all my regular calendar entries. It's one of those apps that sits there being quietly useful. 2019 update: this app is still one of my "absolutely must have" apps, used on every device. But PLEASE let us have iCloud sync! I'll gladly pay for a new version! But, a plea to the developer: PLEASE give us iCloud syncing! When I set up a new device, I still have to enter every template all over again. iCloud syncing would make this app ten times better. Please :-) But even without iCloud syncing this app is brilliant and worth getting. Original review: There are loads of apps our there to help to enter repeating ‘templates’ or events. If you are a shift worker, you will often do the same type of shift but starting at different times on different days. Calendar Paste is the *perfect* app for this. You create your template - say, “shift 13, 7 hours 29 length, starts at 08.41” and store it. Then when my shift plan for the month comes through, I just open Calendar Paste and paste in each shift template for the next few weeks. Calendar Paste immediately copies over the event title, start finish and length times, into your calendar. One click per event and you’re done. My shift plans change every week, but the shift lengths and shift types fit within a range of 50 different templates. Over a year I might do each of them several times, which is such a pain to keep entering on my phone. With Calendar Paste, I entered things once only. And now, it takes seconds to do a whole month of shift planning. I’ve genuinely tried every shift planning app out there - so many of them create their own separate calendars. We don’t want that, do we? We want to use the same calendar that we use for everything else. Calendar Paste does that. Well done to the devs. I really hope they can build in ‘sync to iCloud’ so we can save our data when we change phones or buy extra devices. They really deserve the really small amount it costs to buy the app. By the way - in my original review, I noted how good the support was. Well, once again I had a quick question and got a full reply within a few hours. For that alone, the devs deserve our support. ==================== My original review: This is a brilliant app. It's one of those apps you don't realise you need until you use it. We've all got those repeating calendar entries - the ones where we don't know the date, but we know they'll be happening at some point. The details are always the same, so every time we arrange them we end up typing the same old details into the calendar. Wouldn't it be great to have a template ready, something you can just tap and it will fill in your calendar? That's what this app does. If you have regular meetings at John's Cafe with Susan, and the meeting is always an hour long, you can make a template. Then when Susan calls you to say "let's meet next week!", you just go into the app, select "Meet Susan at John's" and paste your template directly into your calendar. A really great thing is, Calendar Paste also remembers the time of day you last had the same calendar entry. That means if you often meet Susan from 11am to 1:30pm, the next time you go into the app to paste in "Meet Susan at John's Cafe", 11am - 11:30pm will already be selected. I love how simple and useful this app is. It fulfils a real need, and it does it brilliantly. I am a shift worker and my shifts change every day, but the shifts are regular, and I know that if I'm on "shift number 24", it will always start and finish at the same time and be the same length. So now, my app is full of my different shift details, and as soon as I know what shifts I'll be doing, I paste them in. It now takes me 3-4 seconds to do what used to take me 3-4 minutes. And I don't make mistakes anymore, because I'm pasting in details that I've already written and checked. The app doesn't sync across devices (yet) - it would be great if it did, so I can fill my calendar in from anywhere. But even without it, I promise you, you'll love this app. If you regularly use your calendar, you'll love this app. And an extra plus point: I found a tiny bug. I reported it to the developer and he replied within *minutes* - and he then released a fixed version within hours! Developers like him deserve our support. What are you waiting for? Download it now :-) Tony
Thanks for your ongoing support! Yeah, iCloud sync is not trivial to implement in my spare time, but I'm still on it 💪
