    Cheddar is a fantastic product that has proven to be a reliable way to earn cashback, especially with its user-friendly app and wide selection of great retailers. Since joining in March 2025, my fiancée and I have gained an impressive £650 in cashback in just ten months, and boy, we genuinely wish we had discovered Cheddar years earlier!We do our weekly grocery shopping at Sainsbury's and consistently top up our Sainsbury’s gift card balance. Occasionally, we dare stray and betray by heading to M&S or Waitrose to do our grocery shopping. We top up our Sainsbury’s gift card with £25 to keep our weekly streak going. While we can't recall the exact number of weeks we had accumulated, it was substantial.Like many, we were juggling Christmas shopping and preparing for our flight to Germany during the busy holiday season. We, or rather I, missed the deadline for that week’s top-up by just a day. Unfortunately, this meant we lost out on several months of diligent cashback maintenance and forfeited £20 in boosted cashback after depositing £500 onto the Sainsbury’s gift card.While I acknowledge this was my oversight, it highlights an opportunity for improvement: implementing an automated top-up option for primary or multiple gift cards linked to an existing bank account. This feature could greatly enhance user experience and help prevent situations like mine in the future.

  • Some annoying bugs

    nice idea, one of the better apps for saving with cash back. Still annoying that it only works with gift cards, and not direct with debit cards but k guess that’s not the fault of this app.But there are weird things if you happen to have multiple apps. Like many people, i have multiple bank accounts, 1 is a joint. When signing up there no mention that it allows you to add multiple banks. so i signed up again. But then saw it does support it, but cant now link them.Closed 1 account to sort it, now cant sign in to my original account. Even deleting and reinstalling the app just returns a holding page “your account is about to be deleted” with no option to do anything else. Weird!

    Cheddar was my favourite cashback app. However i stopped using it as now you only get cashback if you buy a gift card. It used to be tracked when using your debit card or any other card and the cash back was given automatically! I loved it and recommended it to everyone. I don’t use it anymore as i don’t buy gift cards and preferred getting the cash back as i used my card. So disappointed and now using other cash back apps. A lot of people i know have done the same. Please go back to the way you were before! You are loosing loyal customers.

    Thanks for taking the time to share this, and we’re genuinely sorry to hear how disappointing this change has been for you.We originally moved away from account-linked cashback because many brands took months to pay out, offers were often limited to new customers only, and rates were frequently very low or unavailable altogether. That made it increasingly unreliable for both customers and us.The gift card model lets us offer higher rates and instant cashback instead, but we completely understand that it’s not the experience everyone prefers.     My story with Cheddar started around 3 months ago now. I was on holiday and bought an Air b n B gift card. Went to book my accommodation and they wouldn’t allow me due to fears of a ‘party’. I might only be 33 but my party days are truly over! I was stranded in France and had to rebook using a different site. Spending twice the money!!I reached out to cheddar to inform them of what Air b n B had done. This complaint was then picked up by the owner of cheddar who personal called me to advise this wasn’t good enough. He took the time to speak to me as a human being and promised me he would personally help me. He went on a journey for around 2 months and fought my corner relentlessly. Yesterday cheddar moved me my money back. I honestly cannot recommend this company more. The owner went above and beyond and trust restored my faith in humanity. Thank you will never be enough but thank you anyway.

    This app is good and the function is great the problem is some gift cards you have to jump through hoops in order to pay at the till and secondly the after sells service from customer support is atrocious when I had a issue with a Asda card. It took them four days and they still didn’t review my account to try and help me they just wrote a load of simple things. Have you done this? Have you done that? And felt to bother even looking into seeing if there was an issue? It turned out that asda actually had a gift card Problem and it was Asda who needed to resolve it but they did not bother communicating with the company to see if there was issues to tell their customers.

    Cheddar works so seamlessly it’s unreal.Yesterday I was clothes shopping in Marks & Spencer’s and JD sports . I chose my items at each store and whilst simply walking to the tills to pay, I had created a ready to use gift card. I earned around £4-£5 with minimal effort.Then of course there’s reloadable cards. My main grocery shop is Tesco and the Tesco reloadable card is something else. Top up at will and get 5% cash back and the added bonus is that the Cheddar app even opens up your club card to scan.I would love to see more reloadable cards in the future.
