Description

"Life's too short to drink bad coffee" – someone, somewhere.
Coffee is a personal drink and we know a good cup when we find it. Sometimes recreating that perfect cup is hard – unless you record everything about it, ready for next time. Coffee Book helps you do that and much more.
With Coffee Book, you'll store all kinds of important information about your coffee but also how it came into being, too. The coffee you used, the brewing method, and even the equipment can change how a cup tastes. Coffee Book helps you log and track it all.
Need to tweak a cup? With Coffee Book, learning about your coffee tastes has never been easier. You'll log changes as you go, noting what they mean to you and your tastebuds. All of this information will be safe and sound in the cloud so you'll never have to start again!
Features include:
- Syncing with Apple Health – your caffeine intake will never be a mystery again.
- Dial in your espresso with ease, and learn why it’s good or bad.
- Support for all the best brewing methods including Aeropress, Chemex, Cold Brew, V60, Origami, W60, Espresso and more.
- A space for photos for those extra special cups.
- Ratings, so you can track how your brewing method, beans, and more affects the outcome.
- Privacy, because coffee doesn't need your data and neither do we.
- Fetch data about your brews and coffee within Shortcuts
- Lock screen widgets so the next brew is just a tap away.

- Coffee Book now supports brewing on your Apple Watch! Just select a watch face with the Smart Stack, start a brew from the app, and you’ll see your timer right there on your watch.
- Custom guides allow you to add any step, any icon, and any color. Please give them a try and let me know what you think.
- You can now share your custom guides! just tap share at the top and you'll get a link to share with friends.

The bug fixes:
- Ratios are back! They’ll auto-compute as expected
- Dates will now show correctly if you change the brewed date on an old brew
- Improved the offline experience
- The new iPad tab bar will now not display twice
- Coffee Book will allow you to view & edit old brews & coffees even if you've hit the limit.
- Images for your coffee will now no longer squish if they're a size we weren't expecting.
- I've made a couple tidy ups here and there, please reach out if you find any bugs!

Thank you for continuing to support Coffee Book.

Quite frankly genius

For me, the best ideas are the simple ones that meet a purpose well, this is exactly that. Does everything I need and well. Have to add that there was a bug in the previous version which crashed the app for me. I emailed on a Sunday afternoon my time, not sure where the dev is, but got an instant response, answered a few simple questions, cam back to me within an hour to say an update was awaiting verification on the store and would be available within 24 hours. And here it is only a few hours later and it works perfectly. THAT is what support is all about. 5 stars through and through!

More methods needed

I appreciate this is for manual brewing mostly but support for other types of brewing would be nice, i.e pods (including reusable) & other specialty coffee products such as pre measured instant sachets, brew bags etc. there are so many other kinds of products out there these days that aren’t whole beans with filter or espresso. It would also be nice to have a feature to log basic caffeine intake also, such as tea or cafe takeout, if the app is going to link into health data it would be ideal to able to log all of my caffeine intake in one place, variables like cup size, shots, or type of tea etc. I know it would be rough estimations over correctly measured like a manual brew but massively preferable Instead of having to log it separately or pay an additional fee for another app that logs general caffeine intake and not just what I’ve brewed manually at home. Perhaps this is beyond the scope of what this app is really for though, but it would be nice to have it all on one place.

Change logs always the same, severely outdated and utterly useless. Very irritating. Why am I updating my app, what am I updating it for? Please keep on top of this very basic information.

The app now has more caffeine options, including the ability to mark brews as tracked/non tracked if you're tracking directly via brewing! This is about as far as this app will go, as a full caffeine tracker isn't planned for inside coffee book.

Sometimes I have to work on a fix really quickly for someone, and I don't get a chance to update the change logs as the build goes out, but its something I'll bear in mind in future, sorry for the inconvenience!

Great concept, cleanly implemented.

Fantastic! I was previously writing this stuff down in a notebook, but a digital version has certainly helped me keep to the habit of logging.

One area to improve however is when inputting the forms: I sometimes pick the wrong brewer type, so when I hit back to change it, all the information I had input is removed. It’s not a big deal, but when I’m barely awake I make this mistake often!

Another great addition would be to load the last entry for a certain brewer type&coffee combo as a template. Often I am trying to dial in a coffee over a few days, and only change 1 or 2 things such as grind size or amount of beans. Having to input all the data from scratch is a little cumbersome.

Otherwise, I absolutely love this app and it has become part of my morning ritual. Thanks!

Developer Response ,

Hey!

I'm glad that you like Coffee Book. You'll be pleased to see that if you get a brewer wrong you can now go into the data screen and edit that brewer - perfect for fixing any early-morning typos.

I'll take a look at your request for the last entry - there's all-ready some smart auto-fill of the grinder, brewer and coffee provided you're doing the same type twice in a row, so that can be extended.

Thank you for your review!
