Ratings and Reviews
This app is brilliant for those that want to start editing/manipulating their photos with dramatic effects. It is very easy to use and you can create stunning images. Have already recommended it to a lot of my friends. Definitely worth getting this one! I have just edited a black and white image of our front garden which has masses of Californian poppies but with one bright red poppy. I’ve left the whole image in black and white and just defined the red petals of that single poppy! Awesome. For this price you can play around to your hearts content!
Didn’t find it lived up to the 5* reviews, sadly.
At the price, this app is a steal, so get it! I recently paid ten times as much for one of its rivals that I ended up giving up on, in despair!
However, there are some irritations in this application that I would think the makers, with all their unarguable skills could easily deal with. As another reviewer has remarked, as you hand-colour an area, the “brush” circle becomes surrounded by black blocks and lines, a bit like a magnet attracting iron filings. These get in the way of seeing what you are supposed to be working on. I found that stopping, zooming in or out and then resuming, gets rid of the black areas, but please can the makers do something to stop the need to do this?
I’m also no fan of circular brushes. No matter how scaleable, they are just not suited to detailed work. Surely we can have some other shapes too? Circular brushes lead to accidental overspill all too frequently. Sadly, the app has no “eraser” function. This would be really useful, and far more convenient than the “undo” function, when you’ve just coloured a large area and notice a small error in your work.
In my view, small improvements like this would really allow this app to derserve a full five stars.
Does what it says very well, with intuitive controls
I’ve used various versions of this app over the last couple of years and it has never let me down. It is really simple and does exactly what it says, with controls that my 6-year-old (as he was then) could pick up in a couple of seconds. I am no photo editing genius, but this app has allowed me to produce some edited shots that look really professional. I’ve printed some of these out and they always elicit “wow” comments from visitors.
