The classic strategy series is back, remixed for quickfire battles on the go and with all the tactical finesse we'd hoped for. Do you rush your army towards your opponent's resources? Steadily fight to secure territory? Or swoop in at the last minute to turn a missile launch to your favour? With tightly designed maps and unit balance, every match is a thriller.
Almost perfect
As far as mobile phone games/iPad go this is really good. They’re usually all very similar, impossible to play for very long without spending a lot of money and end up becoming very boring. This game is pretty simple and a little different from what we’re used to with C&C, but for a mobile version it’s excellent. The only ‘bug’ is that it will often pair you against an opponent who is much more advanced, they’re a much higher and with more advanced units you haven’t unlocked yet. So it can end up being very difficult to win.
Spending money - you actually don’t have to on this game which I like. It’s there, an option if you want better crates and more coins/units etc. But there isn’t anything that will stop you playing because you’ve reached a cap. This is a refreshing change compared to many other games.
If they could just sort out how they match opponents I think it would be perfect.
Brilliant game
I’ve just been reading some reviews and can’t believe the negativity from some people. Yes you do get a slight advantage if you buy crates/deals etc but ultimately that will just mean you go into the higher leagues sooner and find yourself out of your depth against more skilled players. This game is perfectly viable F2P. I’ve been playing since launch and have just maxed out (that’s less than 3 months of semi regular play time). It could be a bit of a grind at times but to now be at a point where I have all troops unlocked definitely makes it feel worthwhile.
This game has huge potential in the world of esports and imo does the C&C brand, of which I’ve been a fan of since 1995, real justice. It’s not the typical base building RTS that we have all come accustomed to but it does give us a fast paced mobile RTS with very competitive gameplay with troops from C&C games brilliantly worked into it. Rolling across the battlefield with your mammoth tank supported by an orca and a talon is something you’d have seen a lot in C&C 3 but now you can have that exact same thing on mobile. Brilliant!!
Just as a final FYI, the game was actually developed in part by the devs who made the original C&C games. If it’s good enough for them, surely it’s good enough for us fans!
