Company of Heroes 17+

Friendly invasion of a timeless classic!

This is a decent straight up port of the PC classic; Company of Heroes. It plays incredibly smooth on my 2019 iPad pro, I'm already 10+ hours in to the campaign and skirmish modes respectively and there hasn't been a single crash, or any obvious bugs to note. Yes converting from a mouse to a touch screen takes a little getting used to, but once you've mastered the ergonomic change you wont look back..... I mean its Company of Heroes in your pocket..... I bet you never saw that coming in 2005!? This in my opinion is how tablet games should be made and played I.e. single one-off payment, no mucking about, get what you pay for game that you'll keep you entertained for hours. Big kudos to the developers who have kept true to the original formula and DNA, please keep rolling back the years with more content/games.

Disappointed

As someone who downloaded the game when it first got ported to iPhone and bought each expansion as they came out, it’s extremely disappointing to now have the game be unplayable. I used to play the game on an iPhone 8 & 9, only ever had a few crashes, I’ve been playing on an iPhone 12 for a while now and it was much better at first, better graphics and ran much smoother, in the past month I simply have not been able to play the game at all, I will get 15 minutes into a campaign game and the app will crash, I get half an hour into a skirmish and the app will crash, I’ve restarted the app, restarted my phone, nothing seems to change this. I hate having to give the game only 3 stars as I genuinely love it and have put plenty of hours into it, when it runs, it’s the best game to have in your phone, but at this moment in time it couldn’t be any more infuriating. Please fix this!

We have released an update for Company of Heroes that significantly reduces the game's memory usage. This will work around the stability issues in the game that you experienced, which were being caused by an increased memory demand from the iOS operating system.

Please update the game via the App Store and you should then be able to play without further issue. If you have any further issues, please contact us via 'Email Support', found via 'Help' in the Main Menu of the game, and we'll be happy to assist further.

OMG!

As usual getting used to touch controls takes a while. Issuing commands and grouping etc. I did the tutorials with both the command wheel and the old PC style boxes in bottom left hand corner. Couldn’t get to grips with the command wheel. I have noticed with old style you can pause the game and still issue commands. There was an issue with the very first mission that when you attacked the bunker in the top left corner of map it crashes, don’t know if it was fixed but I got round it. Only played 5 missions and couple of skirmishes. I did notice on Best map engineers even though the order was accepted they won’t repair bridges. The game itself, the graphics, the gameplay is just brilliant. Well worth the money. Looking forward to Opposing fronts maybe and and as always MTW2. For me the flipping of the maps in skirmish is not an issue. Adapt and overcome.
