About Cook’s Illustrated
Cook’s Illustrated, launched in 1993, is located just outside Boston where a team of more than three dozen test cooks, editors, and cookware specialists work in a 2,500-square-foot test kitchen. Our mission is to test recipes over and over again until we understand how and why they work and until we arrive at the “best” version of a particular recipe. The result, we hope, is the best version of a particular recipe, but we realize that only you can be the final judge of our success (or failure). As we like to say in the test kitchen, “We make the mistakes so you don’t have to.”

Along with developing recipes, our test kitchen team exhaustively tests kitchen equipment and does blind tastings of supermarket ingredients to tell home cooks which brands to buy…and which to avoid. More than one million Cook’s Illustrated readers rely on Cook’s Illustrated reviews to make smarter decisions about which cooking products and ingredient brands to buy.

Cook’s Illustrated recipes, testings, and tastings can be found in Cook’s Illustrated magazine and cookbooks, online at CooksIllustrated.com, or featured on our public television show, America’s Test Kitchen.

Elegant and tasty too

Cook's Illustrated on the iPad is a gorgeously presented magazine, recipes are available in a follow-me style, step by step for use in the kitchen along with the traditional print layout. Each article is navigated independently and easy to follow and for added success there are also video clips for technique.
These features make it a no-brainer for the cook eager to try new recipes or improve their skill.
Add in the tips and equipment reviews and you have what is probably the finest cooking resource available in the iPad magazine store.

Subject is great, app needs work

The contents of the mag is not an issue, if you like Cooks Illustrated it’s a great read but if you are more after the recipes maybe the ATK app is a better choice.

My frustration with this app relates to the favourites system.

* There is no organisation system so you can’t sort the favourites (by issue, food type, etc.)
* When clicking on a favourite in a different issue I get an error that the issue is installing or updating (which is not the case)
* The favourites list isn’t backed up so if you swap devices you need to add the favs again
* the recipe images in the favs list is in black and white. In Cook’s Country the images are in colour and much easier to browse

There’s also no option to makes notes which would be super handy against particular recipes.

Please fix!

Great, but...

This is a great app, cannot wait for Cooks Country app. Just one thing, why can't the digital editions be free for those who already have print subscriptions like myself? Martha Stewart does it, as do many others, come on guys this would be a great benefit.
