Really useful tool

Coolors is a really useful tool for so many jobs. I’ve tried some of the other ‘Market-leaders’ in colour but this app just about does it all. Generate colours, select colours from photos. Export, send to clients, all the numbers and colour spaces. Slightly fiddly to set up initially but thankfully not always nagging to do the dreaded ‘in app purchase’. Get this and use in so many ways. Really great, why can’t more apps be like this?
Slight amend: the aperture for choosing colours from an image could be bigger its a bit too specific and should average out the hues for a chosen area more, It’s often possible to pick a rogue colour you’d not even seen at the image level.

… why does this need a subscription?!

Like… what on Earth is going on? First of all we have monthly bills, then Netflix starts asking for monthly money. A decade and a half passes and *everyone* wants monthly money now?

Once upon a time I was in the freeware community - an excellent place to hone one’s skills - people putting months of their lives into projects without payment all to better the world. I understand people need money to live, duh! But charging monthly for something as pitiful as a colour generator that I could *edit- I went away and made one, but I used Shortcuts instead! Amazingly.* make in a day. Or afternoon. *edit- it was 4 hours*.

Then the developer has the gall to talk about “supporting me as an indie developer” trying to sound small, innocent, sweet. I don’t do subscriptions, it’s such a sad cash grab that feels like Apple themselves are forcing developers to go down this route (I’m one, they’re not). This needs to be free with a bonus ‘help me as an indie’ button - that’s how you do the “cute indie developer” thing.

Now subscription based? WHY?!

Like others have stated here, I bought Coolors a few years back as I loved the app and felt it was very well designed and built. It helped me generate suitable colour schemes for a variety of projects and worked really well.

However, I since realised that they’ve now taken the insane decision to limit the functionality of the app behind a paywall, which is absolutely infuriating given I’ve already purchased the app to use! How developers are allowed to do this is beyond me - I can understand if they made it free and then added a paywall for additional functionality, but to kick those of us who forked out for the app back when the devs were starting out in the teeth is ridiculous!

I’ve already paid for the app yet you want more money from me to use it because you decided to change the app after you took my money? Only in the world of app development is this seen as “acceptable”.

C’mon, if the dev is reading this how about recognising that people have already paid for your app and now trying to force them into a subscription to continue using the functionality they’ve already paid for if frankly mad?
