Good but needs a lot of work
The best thing about this app is the CellarTracker integration - and despite the flaws it's worth buying for this alone. I'm able to search for a wine, add it to my cellar or drink and rate it from my iPhone.
However, the app needs *a lot* of work. The UI is ill thought out and often confusing. The design is irritating and has compromised usability for fluffy graphics that one grows tired of. The start screen is cluttered with useless info (what the app developer's favourites are) rather than prioritising the info a user wants.
There's huge potential here - mainly as a CellarTracker client - and the developer could do a lot to improve it.
Roll back to v4
New interface in v5 is terrible. The changing blurry background in 'My Cellar' shows a bottle underlying the text on the left of the screen which makes the text harder to read. The right side generally has no text and a uniform background! I just had a bright white blurry label that made it very hard to browse the listings.
My Cellar listings don't show number of bottles or pending delivery. When I search for tonight's selection, it's important to know at a glance if it's my last bottle or if it's still in my merchants long term storage and not within immediate reach. To find out, I have to select each wine which is an utter pain.
This has been an indispensable app for some years but now that you've been forced into a significant update by direct competition, you've really muddled an otherwise good app. I would gladly stick with you out of loyalty, but you really need to look again at what makes an app useful, functional and attractive without compromising the first two. Until then, I'm off to the competition.
Good app, but cd be better
I like to look at my bottles so it would be great to have an interface that is not all text. Also, pls allow tagging. I wd like to tag it with notes on when I last drank it. Finally, pls allow me to be able to sort by price, where I bought it from, where is the location so the bottle as I have multiple cellar locations
