Designed to be more than a timer app, Countdowns is great for keeping tabs on how long it is until something, or how long it is since it happened. Count up from the last time you had a cigarette and down to your next cookie — if it happened in the past or is happening in the future, Countdowns keeps track of the time so you don't need to.
Countdowns can keep your timers running no matter where you are. Available for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch, Countdowns can sync your timers between your devices so you're always up to speed.
As a free download, Countdowns offers the following features:

exactly what i was looking for!
believe it or not it's been literal YEARS that i've been looking for a countdown/countup app that actually does what you'd expect it to. I used to have separate countdown and countup apps and neither were perfect. Finally found this: you can pick what unit of time you want displayed (you're not going to want hours and SECONDS on a yearly event… or 0 years 0 months displayed before every short-term event!!!!), unlimited timers that go either up or down (and you can pick that a countdown automatically becomes a countup once you reach the date!!), and they all go in the widget. So simple and basic and yet no other free app i've tried (and i've tried dozens!!) managed it.
Exactly what I was looking for
I wanted a simple app that can countdown to events, this can do this easily. It can also count up from events such as the year you were born. It’ll import events from your calendar for ease of input. Best of all it works on the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and now macOS all synced via iCloud so you can always check no matter which device you have in front of you!
The only thing I would like to see is the option to setup ‘work days’ (e.g. Monday - Friday) and then count how many working days there are to an event. So if it was the 1st of a month and you were counting work days to the 14th that might be 14 days but only 10 work days.

Why I bought this app?
I like most people nowadays have a very busy life, I used to use the Apple calendar for reminders but noticed that they were not getting my attention and therefore I was missing things I needed to do
What I like about this app?
Everything, the fact I can use it on my Apple Watch. You can also give each countdown different colours so I grouped mine as, red bills to pay, purple events I need to attend etc, that way I can easily see what’s what. I love the fact that you can set reminders before the countdown date ie get a 1, 2 week reminder down to 1 hour and even 5 minutes before the countdown completion time
What I dislike about this app?
Nothing, it’s a great app at a great price and they are always improving it👍
