Completed it, mate.

Great game - took around a year of occasional play, but finally won the world cup for England without spending anything.

The variable pace of the bowlers is the biggest challenge but with experience you can pick the slower ball during the run up e.g. fast bowler aiming directly in line with off stump.

Anyway, brilliant game for when you have a spare few minutes I’ll buy some bats now to support the devs :)

Very playable but flawed

So this really is a three star game. It’s great that the medium, fast and spin bowlers vary their line and length. Choosing which shot selection, whether to try and hump it for 6 sixes or play conservatively in ones and twos, is the real joy of this game. But every type of bowler can also vary their pace. As the player you have no way to determine what pace is coming down the wicket. With only milliseconds difference between hitting a four or spooning it to slips and getting out, it basically comes down to luck if the computer decides to catch or drop you. I’ve got to level 70 in a couple of enjoyable weeks but this quirk of the game means I’m not interested in taking it further as I can’t get better and I’m bored of leaving it to chance. I’ve given an extra star as the developers have clearly put gameplay above profits. The ads are unintrusive and spread out, you can progress at a good pace without spending real money and if you want a leg up you can watch the occasional ad for money/second life. Well worth a download, has potential to be a classic.

Potentially Great, Reality Awful

I initially wrote a decent review about this game after 20 or so levels. The game itself would be one of the best cricket games on the App Store but after over 250 levels completed it is going from bad to worse. Some levels you are stuck on for ages as no matter what you can’t get the ball away, usually on the levels that require an almost impossible run chase anyway. This is to get you to spend real money on bats which I have done 3 or 4 times. Sometimes you hit a ball and the batters stop running when the fielder is nowhere near the ball but the worst part is that the game has started to buffer as the bowler is running up and by the time you can react to the timing of the ball you are out so the almost impossible is now the impossible. I have had to delete now so back to the App Store for another cricket game.
