Nonograms, also known as pic-a-pix, paint by numbers puzzles, crucipixel, edel, figurepic, grafilogika, japanilaiset, karala, kare, logicolor, logigraphe, oekaki, pikurosu or ristikot, started appearing in Japanese puzzle magazines. Non Ishida published three picture grid puzzles in 1988 in Japan under the name of "Window Art Puzzles". Subsequently, in 1990, James Dalgety in the UK invented the name Nonograms after Non Ishida, and The Sunday Telegraph started publishing them on a weekly basis.

In this puzzle type, the numbers measure how many unbroken lines of filled-in squares there are in any given row or column. To solve a puzzle, one needs to determine which cells will be boxes and which will be empty. Later in the solving process, the spaces help determine where a clue may spread. Solvers use a dot to mark cells they are certain are spaces.

Update: What happened to the black and white puzzles?

(Problem solved: From home screen swipe one way for B&W and the other way for colour.) I have been playing both the original and colour versions of CrossMe on & off for several years. Yesterday I was most of the way through a tricky black & white puzzle and had left the app open to go back to the puzzle. When I went back to the puzzle the app had automatically closed. When I re-opened the app, the original opening screen showed for a few seconds before changing to the colour screen. All of my completed (and uncompleted) black and white puzzles have disappeared and I can now only find colour puzzles and countless locked puzzles. Restore purchases does not work. My separate Cross Me Color app is unaffected. Please help.

NiCE Game! ...HOwEver:
1) they ask u kindly to "please Rate this game!"... after having played enough levels to become hooked (lol..) *jUSt* before - NOW!; well now suddenly you hAv to watch an ad (one whole 30sec video) before each and every new level- YES! :/
so, i wrote an enthusiastically positive review and then >> biG biiiiig diSSAPp0intMEnt!!
~ because those are looooong ads, &beforeEVERY. SINGLE. NEW. LVL!! - i was SAD! :(

bUT tHEN! - oh jOY!! - i (re-)discovered the color mode! WoOp! ;D
still playing the game &like an idiot i'M watchin them ads, as i refuse to pay for these games - especially i mean the pixely ones that any first semester i.T. Student could write in their sleep.... totally Different story if there's amazing graphix & genius programming involved blah bLAh bLAH... in Any case; i think itz ,99 cents to unlock 300 levels which isn't the world, But i DO find it quite, quite cheeky to ask ppl to Write their reviews just before dropping that *bOMB***

Great all round

Some people have moaned that it’s too easy. It does take a little while to get to the more challenging ones but when you’re there, you may be stuck for a little while and that’s where it gets really good. Gets you thinking outside the box (pun intended). Don’t mind waiting through the ads for the next puzzle, well worth it if you have the patience. Cracking game 👍
