Worthwhile and Engaging
I would describe my self as a man with an interest in investing. My father left me some shares and I've been both hooked and confused by the whole thing ever since. Crowdcube gives the opportunity to see a pitch and decide how little or how much you wish to invest in a range of interesting and diverse companies all run by passionate people. As apps go it's fiendishly simple to get to grips with and has regular discussions with the people doing the pitch. The support is also very good from Crowdcube. Great stuff.
Unstable and frustrating to use
Update 2: an extra star gained for not being so unstable but still awful experience. Private pitches cannot be accessed even if I open the link from the web browser or I save them on my followed opportunities. Reading the discussion session is still a pain as the text is not populated the first time a topic is loaded, instead I have to go out into the list and back to see the full conversation. With all the money you’re making on fees, surely you could spend some money on big fixing!
Update: latest version is a mess! It shows opportunities from the first time I ever invested in Crowdcube 😱 wow, you’re shockingly bad and still manage to survive.
I’m just highlighting the issues other users seem to get, and that Crowdcube hasn’t addressed yet:
- being logged out every time I open the app
- every time the app is minimised, it resets to the homepage
- discussions are never fully loaded when they’re opened, instead only the first couple of lines of the conversation are displayed (you have to go back to the list of discussions and tap again on it to fully see the answers)
- starred item disappear all of a sudden, shouldn’t they be there even when expired?
- what’s the point with the archived tab then?
- there’s no way to see when the crowdfunding was started and how many extensions they made
- no in-app notifications to alert of status changes or new updates
- restricted documents take ages to load even if they’re flagged as already downloaded
Disappointed with lack of support
In 2014, I invested £5000 in a startup retailer selling goods from British craftespeople. I am disappointed at the lack of information and support I receive from both parties - the business and the funding platform . Whilst I know crowdfunding is risky and in hindsight, there are better ways of investing £5k, my shares have been diluted and requests for more information have been met with ‘ our accountants cannot deal with individual requests from shareholders ‘ Contact with other shareholders is non existent and I have been asked to vote on share issues and when I asked questions , I was met with ‘ no
Need , we reached our target ‘ where is the evidence ???? This lack of transparency is disconcerting . Similar experiences anyone ? Felt supported ? Kept informed ?
