Description
CSV files — comma separated values — are a widely used file type for the transfer of simple information. It's a format used by Excel and a host of other applications in finance and other industries.
CSVEdit will open these files supporting a user-selectable set of field delimiters and file encodings, allow you to search and filter (ie, only show rows containing a string), and edit the files. Fields can be altered, rows added, reordered and/or removed, columns added or deleted. CSVEdit supports undo so you can try things out.
By changing the file's characteristics, you can open SQL data extracts (hint: change the field separator to "|") or many other row-based formats.
The files can then be saved, optionally using new delimiters or in a different file encoding to make translating between formats easy.
It all adds up to a simple but powerful tool for browsing and editing CSV files.
Note: CSVEdit does not save comment lines present in the input when writing out files.

Useful CSV editing tool with a responsive author
I've been using this tool for a few versions now and find it quite useful for being able to edit CSV files that I use with tools in my job. The feature set allows me to perform edits that OpenOffice or Excel would cause me trouble with. It's ability to create new CSV documents has also improved with these newer versions too. The author of this app has also proven to be very responsive and open to suggestions / feedback which has helped to iron out some of the issues that I had previously encountered with it. This latest version improves even further, resolving various issues I had with the previous version. If you encounter problems with this using specific files then i’d recommend getting in touch with the author as you may find the issue gets resolved by the next version!
Cannot open my tab separated file
Bought this program to help me edit a tab separated file, however it couldn't open the file because it couldn't figure out the encoding on the file.
I bought this as an aid to help speed up what I'm doing so I haven't spent a lot of time trying to figure it out. That would defeat the purpose. I'm sure it's got it's uses, but in my case it didn't do the job.
