Description

The idea behind this application is that it will help you track and manage your Vitamin D.

This new version integrates with the Apple Health app to make seamless data exchange possible in the following ways:

* on setup, profile information is fetched from the Health App if the user allows it
* the user's weight (a factor in D generation) is fetched on an ongoing basis, making it unnecessary to update it
* the app will write vitamin D doses, including session information into the Health app

You setup basic information one time, like your height and weight and skin type and then any time you are outside, during the prescribed hours (and parts of the year), you can have it compute the amount of D you are getting in a stopwatch interface. It will also track how long you can stay out and warn you when the time is up.

The application will notify you with the next opportunity to generate vitamin D.

Each day, you can see forecasts based on your location, and you can also see the solar position, your generated vitamin D vs. target etc.

In the Pro version, you can see your exposures' history and you will be able to schedule future events for next exposures.

Very useful, thank you :)

Great app! Thank you and thanks so much for making it free during the pandemic.
I don’t normally use sunscreen because of the toxic chemicals but have recently bought some nice natural stuff. It would be great to have a function that allows you to factor in different levels of sunscreen for when we want to be outside beyond the recommended limits.

Essential health benefits from the sun

I, like many other people, have been under the impression that if you go out in the sun without covering or protecting your skin you are on a path towards skin cancer. As a consequence I was vitamin D deficient (as many people are) and started taking supplements which has improved my health dramatically. I then found out that the chemicals that companies put into sun cream are more likely to give you skin cancer than the sun itself! (I will only use a natural sun cream now if I am going to be exposed for a long time). Getting into the sun without protection is essential for good health, as long as you are sensible, which is where this brilliant app really helps. Even just 10 minutes a day will benefit your health. You can keep track of sun exposure and supplements combined. It is so interesting to know the precise dates when you can get vitamin D during the year too. I am using this app on an ancient phone and it works fine. Just wish I had discovered it sooner! 😎👍🏻.

Interesting insights

Really interesting to see exactly how much Vitamin D you can generate. As well as interesting to see how much more available Vit D there is over winter in Southern Europe Vs. northern.
Very handy to monitor levels between supplements and natural exposure.

Lately app is having some issues displaying annual solar forecasts data (no data shown at all) and switching between locations seems to create errors. Showing the data then switching to previous location data whilst still displaying the selection name.
