Ratings and ReviewsSee All
Unbelievably after so many (justifiably) terrible reviews, this revamped app continues to show the company’s contempt for its users. After failing to log in with the updated app (why did my credentials not get carried over?) I went to the website and requested my credentials using my phone number. I was told the number wasn’t registered. So I tried re-registering with the same number and was told that I was already registered and I should use the login screen. At that point I waited by the car while my daughter ran to change a fiver so I could pay the fee in coins.
My usual train journey uses a RingGo car park (I’m lucky that I have a choice and the combination of high cost NCP and unusable Dash app makes it an easy decision) RingGo is never a problem, it’s intuitive interface and thought-through flows make parking easy. It is simply mind boggling that Dash hasn’t learned any lessons with the latest release. For example, it doesn’t help that you can’t pre-book in the app - I don’t want to wait until 9:30 to get the lower day-cost when I’m parking at 9:35 and catching a 9:40 train - I want to pay before I park and know I’m done. Very very poor all round.
Not much more to say than the other reviews. It’s hard to understand how a company could put this app through a review process and say “yep...we’ve nailed it this time” Nothing is intuitive. You can’t pick from a list of parking sites, you have to know the number (or visit the website for a list of numbers which is almost as badly organised) If you’re a regular parking user (I.e a commuter or business user) you can’t pick from a list of previous parking points. If you happen to have two cars in a family, you can’t save the details and pick from a list. The time period selection screen is comical... with so many well designed parking apps out there I don’t understand how something this bad even gets allowed into the App Store. If the App is this bad, it doesn’t give me much faith in the back end systems that store and process my credit card payments. Unfortunately as there is no choice, I have to suffer the app, or revert to £10 of coins every day. Get some UI design advice and update this App ASAP.
How not to build an app!
I have worked in the software industry for almost 30 years and while I have not developed for a mobile platform I believe I have a good understanding of basic levels of user interface/experience. This is app is so poor I felt the need to write something. Part of the frustration is that the app works but it makes something that could be so simple an awkward and clumsy exercise. It seems that a captive audience (there is no alternative app to use) has allowed the design/development/testing to either be rushed, under funded or both. There is no saving grace and in fact through my frustration with this app I have aborted a ticket purchase before and then forgotten to retry and subsequently received a penalty notice! It has cost me money. I would say avoid at all costs but if you want to pay via a mobile app you have no choice. Let’s hope that someone who cares reads these bad reviews and steps up. Fingers crossed.
