There are so many people in my local area to talk to, it’s great. The communities feature is brilliant, it gives you the opportunity to get involved with groups that meet your values. Also I like the fact that I don’t have unlimited swipes, so that I’m not wasting a few hours a day swiping. Within the app there is some room from improvement, for example in the filters (preference) part it only allows you to adjust your distance and age, I thought you could at least add a few more items such as relationship status and looking for, so that it’s slightly more direct. You could possibly add a speed dating feature, to allow users to talk to eachother for a limited about of time, then it will review their profiles. It’s just another way of interacting with others and getting more matches, and also it gives an opportunity for users to interact with people, without basing all their decisions on face value. Also within the messaging part you could give prompts and questions to ask (not too cheesy though), to allow in-depth conversations.

Granted that I know a premium version of the app exists.. it’s still very limiting to only allow maybe what, 25 swipes (whether you swipe right or not) daily. Yes, it’s a good theory which will assume users will come back everyday to use the app but after a while it gets frustrating (and I’ve been using it for only 3 days). I think this feature of limiting swipes would work if you’re allowed to swipe right 5 times a day, or if one can add filters so their swipes are more tailored and intentional. Even if you match with someone, there’s no guarantee they’ll actually text you back, but that’s where this cute feature of the HER app gives question prompts to the matched couple. I think maybe there should either be a decrease in the subscription cost (£20 is a lot) or allow a 10 minute window weekly where users can get access to all features (see your likes particularly).

The app is great, for meeting both flings, partners or friends. I’ve had lovely conversations with others who share my interests on the community tab, and in DMs. Most people are in here to meet others, and the filters help with finding people who actually want to talk to each other, not just say “hi, how are you?” And leave. The bio set up is a great help for people who feel awkward setting up bios too, does little prompts, has customisable stickers, personal filters, and gives ideas for pictures to add, which is cute. It’s really interesting to read other peoples bios and the answers they give to questions. If you find it hard to start a conversation, the app sends both users a start off question to get things going, which is nice, and leads to fun convos off the bat. Unfortunately, it’s been hard to find Polyamorous people in my area, however I’m hoping that will change.
