It’s hard to make the best even better, but the sequel to Day One lives up to expectations—and then some. The app smartly keeps its interface streamlined but adds a wealth of new features that we’ve found immensely valuable. Your journal entries contain all sorts of information—you can geolocate them, add tons of photos to each entry, and even see your day’s fitness activity. You can switch over to a beautiful new photo view when you’re ready to see your world at a glance.

Great upgrade option for Classic users

I've used Classic since 2012 and was v happy with it. But have wanted to upload multiple photos for some time and now have an iPhone X which Classic is not optimised for; I wasn't keen to subscribe so Day One's one time purchase price of £49 for Classic users seemed reasonable to me.

My only concern is they're not using iCloud to sync anymore which makes me nervous - what if they go bust or something? I feel more comfortable storing my data with Apple and that's why not 5 stars. That said you can export all entries in a range of formats but you need to manually do this.

But the new app is great, nice improvement and looks really good on the X. It managed to import everything from the old app seamlessly and was able to update older entries with multiple photos - the app has a smart feature that finds related photos from your phone's camera roll which is a nice touch.

Only minor gripe is it stutters a bit when scrolling (on an iPhone X so should be buttery smooth) and it crashed a couple of times when I was uploading multiple pictures to previous entries (a known issue which they are working on) and I was unable to submit a support request but that could have been due to the holidays, but otherwise all works fine.

One minor improvement request - can you move the text up automatically when it reaches below the keyboard? Otherwise means you have to keep flicking up to see what you're typing.

A medium for personal growth

Many people chose journals to just record their lives and such, but I chose to download this app to help me cope with the world around me. I have had a life that has been harder than most and I found my self without any coping mechanisms when my boyfriend left me. Though things for my boyfriend and I aren’t truly over and we’re working on things, I’m glad I found this app. It’s beautifully organised and is so wonderful in allowing your thoughts to flow out in a healthy fashion. I’m grateful this app was created and though it will cost money when the trial is over, I will still pay it since peace of mind is priceless. I thank you for making this app and I thank you for the security it possesses as well as its quirks in location pinpointing pictures so you can write an entry regarding that picture. Honestly I wish I’d found this app a long time ago, but now that I have it I will never go back.

Thank you, truly.
