9 alphabetic dice, over 10 million combinations...
Often unpredictable and always great fun, this compelling word game can be played by 1 to 8 players at all skill levels. Includes excellent Dicewords-based puzzle too.
Graham Lipscomb’s fabulous DICEWORDS offers a fascinating blend of luck and strategy, and can also be used very effectively as an educational tool. This nifty adaptation of the popular dice game takes care of the scoring and automatically prompts the next player to roll. And you won’t lose any of these dice under the sofa.
Each turn you have up to three rolls in which to build the highest-scoring word you can, so typically you keep some dice and re-roll the others, aiming to get the letters you need.
It’s best to have several word ideas in mind because you never know which letters will come your way. Longer words will usually score you more - and if you can use the rarer letters too (Q, X, Z ...etc), you can get huge scores!
But there’s much more to this game than lucky dice rolls. The on-screen ‘Dice Table’ shows you which dice contain which letters, so you can weigh up the odds of rolling particular combinations - and therefore use strategy to improve your chances.

Absorbing and intelligent game
Dicewords really stretches your vocabulary. It’s an intelligent game and I’m coming up with words I’d forgotten I knew. Although I can play with more than one player I find I’m also challenging myself to see if I can increase the average word score and the time it takes to make a word.
The Puzzle that is included is also a real test. The challenge here is to make the word given in as short amount of time as possible.
The app feels slick and smooth to use and is very well designed and executed.
