Dinner Buddy helps you to plan your meals in advance, store and rate your recipes, search the web to view & save recipes, auto-generate a shopping list based on your planned meals, share recipes with friends and send weekly menu or shopping list to others. Once you have saved your regular meals as recipes you will be able to randomly generate a weekly menu, or browse the web and your stored meals for inspiration.

Shopping list function generates a list based on your selected meals and allows you to tick off ingredients you already have at home and tick off as you shop.

Web search function allows you to search and save recipes from a number of well known websites including All Recipes, BBC, and Jamie Oliver.

Free app allows you to create menu for 1 week with 1 meal/recipe only, optional upgrade allows you to plan for up to 4 weeks with multiple meals/recipes per day

This is an ok app use regular. However wish I could have more than one shopping list. It’s a pain having to delete a list then do a new one for another person

Needs improvement

I’ve been using this app daily for several years now and in general I love it. Unfortunately there are little things that don’t work well. If I input a menu to the various days of the week but then change the week layout to start on a different day, the menu changes days so i have to redo it all. Then when I click on an item to change the day, if I have multiple weeks set up in my preferences, the app randomly picks whick week they put that meal into rather than shifting it in the same week. Just some little issues. If these little things were fixed I would happily pay for this app!

You can’t add one-off meals (I.e experimental meals that you may not want to cook again) to the Menu: they always have to be added to the Recipes list. I have to create separate reminders for these on a To-Do list app, as I don’t want these one-off meals on my Recipes list. Also, the fonts especially on the Recipes page are too small to read - the UI badly needs an update. Other than that, it’s a good app - the random meal selection/menu creation is a good feature.
