Description

Disk Drill Media Recovery is the simplest and the most efficient data recovery app on the Mac App Store. Version 4 offers a new streamlined user interface that will help you navigate, preview, sort, and filter your recoverable data with ease.

Disk Drill can recover your deleted pictures and photos, music, documents, applications, videos, notes, and other data. There are several data recovery algorithms running in a smart sequence within Disk Drill. "Quick Scan" and "Search for Lost Partitions" can recover files of any format. "Deep Scan" file recovery works on a lower level and analyzes disks as binary entities. It runs your hard drive recovery based on file signatures, thus original file names, locations and properties aren't always recoverable.

Disk Drill can recover deleted data on all known file systems: APFS, HFS+, FAT32, NTFS, EXT3, EXT4, ExFAT, and will even work with formatted disk images. If your data is still there, Disk Drill will undelete it for you. Disk Drill can get your data back from any byte-by-byte disk image. The following disk image formats are supported: DMG, ISO, and IMG.
Disk Drill Media Recovery is developed by CleverFiles, a well-known data solutions brand since 2011. You can be sure you are getting an app of the best quality.

Your lost data can be retrieved from any internal and external media: your Mac hard drive (excluding system partitions), any disk you can mount to your Mac, USB flash thumb drives, cameras, card-readers, external hard drives, iPods (Shuffle, Nano, Classic, Mini), mobile phones, other Macs connected in target mode, etc.

!! Please Note: Disk Drill Media Recovery cannot recover data from devices running on iOS: iPhones, iPads, and iPods Touch.

** How to create and recover from a disk image **

Disk Drill Media Recovery uses uncompressed (byte-by-byte) disk images as the source for data recovery. Here's how you can create them really easy:

1. Run Disk Utility, it's a standard macOS app.
2. Go to File > New > Disk Image from "YOUR_DISK_NAME".
3. Choose "read-write" as your Image format. Do not choose "Compressed", deleted data will not be copied if you do.
4. Set encryption to "none".
5. Save your disk image, and load it in Disk Drill Media Recovery when done.

Recovered my files

One of my many external drives managed to corrupt whilst I was trying to transfer all my data to a new NAS drive. This drive contained dozens of media files I wanted to access. My MacBook Pro refused to mount the drive despite a number of attempts. I read the reviews of Disk Drill and decided to give it a chance. The moment I connected my drive my MacBook refused to acknowledge the drive and told me it could not connect - however the drive displayed on the Disk Drill user interface and I was able to see the partitions. Once I selected the partition with the files I was able to click recover and start the deep scan process. All my files were there and I was able to recover them. I am very pleased. The program is intuitive and easy to use, I would definitely recommend it. My only issue is the length of time a HDD takes to scan, which is a hardware issue, not the software. I would’ve waited 10 times the scan length to recover my files.

Don't Waste Your Money!

It took me a while before purchasing this app as like most apps, I am very suspicious with the claim of how good they are and what they can achieve! I some times send emails to the devolopers and check the reviews scrupulously before purchasing! But in reality, like most apps these days, OVER PRICED and USELESS! Unfortunately for me, I bit the bullet and purchased it knowing there is no refund option. Then to have my very instinct proved right, USELESS! I only had a usb stick that I recently and accidentally deleted my Sibelius saved files, some PDF’s and the odd photos of sheet music and some audio files that were to be transcribed. It was formatted once and used as a usb bootable for my iMac. This program could only find the files that I hadn’t yet deleted of the OS installation files including pics and it only recovered 1 pic that I was after amongst the many I needed as well as the PDF’s and Sibelius files that it failed to find.
It’s annoying to know that if I was a sick and dangerous person to authorities and I had my usb taken in for evidence and I formatted it probably say 5 times, I bet they could still recover what they needed to prosecute! This app sells itself like it can do that, but it obvisouly can’t. You’ve been warned! Save your money or just set fire to 40 notes, you’d feel less disappointed by doing so.

Worked although it was hardwork

Becuase of tight Mac security, you need to jump through a few hoops to get this app to work. I nearly gave up as I hit mutiple technical obstacles before I was able to successfully recover files from a SD card, which had inadvertantly been turned into a Time Machine backup. The Disk Drill user guide was ok, however a little inadquate in places, and I had to a lot additional research, before I was able to create a disk image, which the app could read. An error with the dmg file permissions was another stubling block. After a lot of trial and error, I managed to suceed in recovering my data, however it wasn't straightforword.
