Disney Magic Timer by Oral-B 4+

I literally recommend this app to every parent 😂. My son loves it! Before teeth brushing was a nightmare. It got to the point we’d have to pin him down to brush his teeth and was awful. Since this app he happily brushes his teeth twice a day. He loves changing the brush and characters and even watching the films before (if they have any). For adults the repetitive same film and music is annoying but he loves it! He even roars to the Monster Inc one (every bloody time 😂). He’ll spend time after brushing looking through all his stickers, which he has quite the collection now. We have even bought extra characters and it’s totally worth the money. Not bought a Oral B toothbrush that you can scan yet as he’s only 3 but maybe next year :).

The app used to be really good and my children loved it. Across my 3 kids of various ages we have probably used it for around 6 or 7 years in total. It used to make brushing twice a day just a little bit exciting and they loved the pictures and daily star rewards. However, now, on a daily basis, the app is “unavailable” between 6:30pm and 7:30pm every evening!! i.e. bed time for a lot of kids across the UK. On the basis that the whole reward system is based on the app logging your progress twice a day, it makes the whole thing pointless!!

I can only assume it is doing some sort of daily server update every day that has been timed (although god knows why it needs such regular updates as it’s only a glorified timer and why that has to prevent users from connecting instead of running in the background) but it could literally not be timed worse. It started off that the kids would be disappointed every night when the app didn’t work. Now they have basically given up and lost interest. It’s a real shame that the interest in the app has been destroyed by a perfectly avoidable reason! I gave it 2 stars, more based on the history and the fact I know it can be good. In its current form it has to be zero stars because it’s basically worthless.

Brushing teeth was always a problem and we had to find creative ways to get our 3 year old to brush. Most of the time it would end in tears as she didn’t want to do it. When we did manage it would always be for about 30 seconds, any longer and it would be like a wrestling match.
With this app she is always excited to brush her teeth and even asks to do it and we always get the full 2 minutes.
The app itself could do with some optimisation as there are some delays in pressing the buttons but it’s still 5* from me down to the brushing alone.
