Just the job

I have been using A - Dock for years and it no longer works in Maverick. This does jut about the same job, with no stability problems at all.
If you were able to click on an icon to take you directly to the desktop instead on a menu (as you could in A- Dock), it would have been 5 stars.
Well worth £2.99!

Update, my request about showing the desktop has been attended to. 5 stars for the app and 100 stars for support and service

Powerful app

This is an app launcher/ app organiser and document/folder organiser rolled into one. It is useful for managing large numbers of apps. I was attracted to this app because of the regular update history, which demonstrates the developer updated this for El Captain, when my previous app manager destabilised on OS X upgrade.

Example of use: I’ve loads of apps involved in image editing scattered across my ‘Applications’ folder. A ‘Dock’ which pops up on request exclusively for image apps really works and helps shift a file loads of individual apps.

I have previously used several app management / doc management systems.

Document management:
* 3D fileSpace
* FileShelf
* FileRanger
* Desktop Shelves
Dockshelf is better than some of the above, but equally not as visually slick as others. It would however enable lots of disparate files to be brought together under one Workspace. You could include apps like Yelp.

App Management
* Quickpick
* Dock OS X
Dockshelf is a combination of both the above. You can have as many custom ‘Docks’ as you like and appears on request. Quickpick became unstable under El Captain and is no longer available.

Strengths:
* This is a powerful app, which effectively combines app/document management
* Thus far it is actively maintained. This is important because there is nothing worse than the app falling over on an OS X upgrade

Weaknesses:
* It isn’t obvious how it works immediately and either you need ½ hour understanding how to use it OR read the help manual
* There is a helpful manual but this is only available in the menu icon, not the dock icon. Its location wasn’t obvious because normally Help is the Dock, or a ‘File’ menu.

Summary, the weaknesses are transient, the strengths are permanent.

it's ok

I bought it, and thought that it will add real docks. In fact it just adds sort of docks that are not nearly as powerful as the main dock.
