Description

Keep calm and count your drinks! Stay within moderate (low-risk) alcohol limits, get motived to drink less and save money. Track, understand and make a positive change!

DrinkControl demystifies units of alcohol (also known as standard drinks) in ways other apps don't. People don’t understand the guidelines for moderate/low-risk alcohol consumption and DrinkControl helps to make sense what these really mean.

DrinkControl is your alcohol consumption diary, helping you to keep track of what you drink and when to help keep yourself accountable — a vital motivation in making changes like drinking less often, opting for lighter drinks, or going for a sober streak.

Instead of considering our consumption in alcohol units (also known as standard drinks) or grams of pure alcohol (the basis of moderate drinking guidelines), we simply consume our beer, wine and spirits in their available containers without giving them a second thought. But not all beers, wines or shots are equal.

DrinkControl helps you be better informed about the drinks you consume and the amount of alcohol/calories they contain. Whether it's to reduce alcohol intake on the advise of a doctor, goal of spending less or losing weight, tracking drinks will help you with moderation or cutting down.

Now, that’s a sobering thought!

Wine Lad ,

A Top App for drinking control 👍

I reached a stage with my drinking that I wanted to take back more control but to still enjoy a night out. So I set myself a maximum amount of units I would drink in a night and this app is perfect in helping me to achieve it. On days when I don’t drink (a lot more now - thanks to this app and my self control) then you have the satisfaction of pressing the ‘Dry Day’ button. It is easy and unobtrusive to record your drinks as you go along (ie you are not fiddling about with your phone while you are recording your units). I bought the inexpensive lifetime premium version as I wanted total accuracy of recording my units (records in 0.1% range) but the normal package is also very useful. It tells you by colour coding whether you are reaching your daily, weekly and monthly limits but not in a patronising, annoying way as after all - your drinking destiny is always up to you and you alone!!

Too early to say!

Just downloaded and wanting to explore without paying premium upgrade! Front screen looks clunky with strange text! Emphasis seems to be on cost. The three bars indicating units consumed in 1/7/30 days are at first confusing (I had to deploy the screen magnifier to interpret!) On to entering drink consumed: my favourite tipple is Aspall’s cider which comes in 500ml bottles, but the cider entry only allows 330ml or 1 pint? Why can there not be a facility to enter millilitres if none of the standard sizes apply? Gin does not appear on the standard drinks? It also appears necessary to enter the cost per drink every time you enter a drink rather than being able to save a drink as a favourite?
If I stump up £6.99 to find that none of these things are possible I will delete the app and waste £6.99?
Not initially impressed?

Hi Stuart!
You don't need to enter price, if you are not interested in the money aspect, leave the field empty. For non-standard drink types you can use "Other" (or if you enabled Premium features, you can define your own types). Also, check out https://drinkcontrolapp.com/support.htm for FAQ.

Super easy to track boozing

I’ve been using this app for about 6 months after a health issue made me get a grip on my drinking which had gotten high and daily. Like most negative habits denial is a big feature of problem drinking so if you are going to manage it you need to measure it or you’re just kidding yourself.

This app is just a really useful tool to help you keep a track of your consumption. I’ve cut down on past levels by about 90% and am now back to safe limits. Where this app is useful is you can see if you are creeping back up over time (easy to do).

I think this app is going to be useful for the kind of drinker (non alcoholic) that likes a wine at the end of the day but found themselves, like I did, knocking back a bottle or more a night out of habit. I switched to low alc mini beers instead (just 2 a night) and reprogrammed myself. This app is a great tool in that arsenal and I recommend giving it a crack.
