The UK test routes app has been invaluable in helping me prepare for my upcoming practical driving test. As someone still learning, being able to familiarize myself with potential test routes has significantly boosted my confidence. The app's user-friendly interface makes it easy to find routes specific to my local test center. The detailed maps clearly show all the challenging junctions, roundabouts, and potential hazards I might encounter during my actual test. I particularly appreciate the turn-by-turn directions that allow me to practice effectively with my instructor. I used this app for my driving test and it really helped me pass first time. It had 13 test routes for my chosen center and the routes are reliable — if you go through all of them, I can definitely assure you it will cover most (if not all) of the possible destinations you could be taken to during the actual test. I also noticed they recently updated the app and added an option to go straight to the test center, which is really handy. My husband used a previous version that didn’t have this, so I found that a big improvement.The user interface is very easy to use, and I also like that it shows speed limits. Of course, some of these need updating from time to time since road conditions and limits can change (depending on council updates, roadworks, etc.), but overall it’s been really helpful.I 100% recommend using it, especially if you’re just practicing. Of course lessons with an instructor are still important for beginners, but for me, since I already had driving experience in my home country and just needed to familiarize myself with the UK test routes, this app was super useful and definitely played a big part in me passing first time.

Overall we found using this app very helpful, as I was at the stage of being beyond lessons with an instructor, so therefore trying to practice without someone who knew the routes to mock test me. To recreate that knowledge for mock tests outside of paid lessons this app looked perfect. However, for the Launceston test centre it was missing very common sections, or went down them in weird directions (eg a common route for parallel parks but coming from the wrong side so you couldn’t do it). For some of these it was possible to pause it and re-start back on the route. However, it would also try and make you go the wrong way up one-way streets and through pedestrianised roads, very frequently. Also routes not on the test due to poor access were commonly in it. This lead to cherry picking from the 10 or so options based on the route preview. With all that said, it does help to recreate the weird scenario of a driving test, where as the driver you don’t know where you are going to and the examiner navigating won’t be very helpful. I found that coming up with my own mock test route based on what i knew from lessons or failed tests was a different mindset that wasn’t helping, and having a passenger who knew the routes wasn’t possible. It is also helpful for the Sat Nav section of the test, especially when the examiner ends up interpreting the instructions when they are not what the road layout is, something common in Cornwall! If it wasn’t for the downright scary instructions to turn into bollards or scattering pedestrians it would be 3 stars, hopefully that is not the way in most test areas.

I rarely write reviews but needed to do it in this occasion. My driving instructor ghosted me after I told him I would practise with my house’s car. Due to the lack of instructors in my area, I was practising and preparing for the test with my partner. I realised (too late) that I should be following the possible routes for my test more accurately and a quick google search led me to this app. The Sat Nav could be more “intelligent”, but honestly that’s minor compared to how helpful it is. I couldn’t try all the routes because I bought the app 6 days before my test, but the route in my actual test was so similar to the ones I did, that I never felt nervous of where I was going. I felt like I had been at least in 95% of these places (or even more). I passed with two minors, on my first attempt, and the app definitely played part in my preparation me test results.
