Driving Theory Test Kit | RAC
Ratings & Reviews
I had been struggling a lot to study for the theory test because I am a visual learner. Most apps just throw a lot of text at you and expect you to figure it out on your own, which made studying really frustrating for me.I was honestly starting to give up on the idea of getting my UK driving licence and thought I might just keep relying on my foreign licence like I have been. But after using this app casually for about a week, my practice test scores started improving quickly. I went from scoring 78 percent to 82, then 84, then 85, and even 96.I have only been using the app for about two weeks and the progress has been really encouraging. At this rate I think I will be ready to take the test in about three months.
Developer ResponseHello! Thank you for taking the time to leave a positive review and score for the app! Good luck with your DVSA driving theory test and the rest of your learning to drive experience. Best regards. Support Team
This is awful. I already paid for this app some years ago, and now I find out that because of the RAC corporate takeover in 2022, I have to not only pay again to “access the full bank of features”, but I also find out I would have to pay EVERY MONTH.It’s utterly shameful so clearly the people who made this decision are utterly shameless.Zero integrity from the RAC and in fact the DVLA who sold the app and allowed this to happen, only to then make the exact same app again which I would no doubt have to pay for again.I dont care if it is the current way of things. It shouldn’t be the way of things. It’s greed and nothing but.I have already paid for this product, and you disgusting suits (obviously the ones at the top who make these decisions, not the actual human beings they severely underpay to read these reviews) have no right to not only try to make us pay again, but to have the audacity to do that every single month!Shame on you.
I downloaded this app two or so weeks before me theory and the layout is great and it is easy to use. However, there were six questions on my theory test that were not covered in any of the topics (I did them all at least three times over and knew them religiously). I guessed the questions and thankfully I passed but these should have been covered by the app. I also chose this app due to the ‘smart’ test feature. This wasn’t giving me the option so I contacted the support team who advised I needed to get thirty questions wrong two or more times for this feature to be activated. There are almost 800 questions on the app and so whilst I’m sure this would have been hit, I think the number for this should be lowered. The app describes it as the most important feature yet I couldn’t access it. I had to go through and flag myself all of the questions I was getting wrong which was a long process. Overall, a decent app but updates and improvements necessary.UPDATE: The six questions that came up on the theory were definitely not in the app. For example, one was about where is the most dangerous place to park and the answer was on the brow of a hill. Another was about road workers accessing the road to erect temporary lights. These questions are definitely not on the app (at least when I used it).
Developer ResponseDear h-l-w, thank you for you feedback!Regarding the smart study feature - your suggestions are really valuable for us and we will take it into account. Our entire content is provided and licensed by DVSA. We are offering a full kit of the latest learning material, which is regularly and timely updated. However you have to take into account that some questions and answers options won't be 100% identical to the real exam. It is made by DVSA on purpose, this way, so people actually learn and understand driving theory material, instead of just memorizing answers.Best Regards, Support Team.
I rarely leave reviews, However, this is one of them times when I feel a need to. Unfortunately, this is how we most are in recent times, when we like something we take it for granted and rarely say thank you, when we dislike something we scream out loud. So I felt that bitter taste of injustice and decided to give my statement here. Before purchasing the app, the first thing I do is read all one star reviews about it so I did. All most recent bad reviews were complaints about the app not being a free app and only giving a three free questions, afterwards you were asked for the payment. The reply of the owner seemed more than reasonable explaining that this app isn’t free but it is available for a free download so that we can see the app and have a sample of all its features before buying it. Also some people complained that there are only three free questions as they would be more happy with one whole test. I don’t see what difference it makes, you are still going to have to purchase it after all, one free test will not let you prepare for the exam, nor would three questions. The society we live in nowadays, a lot of people expect the things that they want such as apps should be free, why do you think it would be free? If the app is free it would be stuffed with advertisements and personally, I’d rather pay a one of payment rather than being distracted when trying to prepare for the exam? For what, to save a fiver? Besides I didn’t see any totally free driving test apps but I can’t say I checked all of them however I checked all the good ones. I purchased the full version and I must say it is a great learning tool, I loved it from the beginning right until the end. You can see how much effort has gone into it, attention to details, smart user friendly interface, all that differs a great product from mediocre. I personally recommend this app to everyone who wants to have a proper tool for preparing for the driving test exam.
Developer ResponseAndrew, thank you so much for the review. You pinpointed it better than we would ever be able to. Great to see people with healthy attitude, good luck with the exams!!!
I downloaded this app when I decided to do my theory test, my theory test was booked for 5 days away (as the waiting time was 2 months and didn’t want to wait that long so managed to book on a cancellation). I revised hard for about an hour a day for 3 days and perhaps for 20 minutes on the other 2 days as I had work.I made sure to do all of the practice questions then once I’d completed them I would do practice exam after practice exam. I got 47/50 after a total of 4 hours revision on my first try. The app is clean and has no bugs/issues, it explains the answers and you can flag any questions you don’t understand to come back to it easily. The only thing I would recommend to improve the app is the have a more different/difficult questions on the practice exams as they seem to recycle the same few questions. For that I just searched hard theory exams online and made sure to practice exams from different websites to get a wider array of questions.Highly recommended this app, you can also practice your hazard perception on here as they give you about 20 free clips and you can buy more if you need (unlikely you would as common sense tells what the hazard is and the clips on the DVLA exam are not the same as the ones on the apps and online).
Developer ResponseThank you for the awesome review! We work hard to meet expectations like yours, and we’re happy to hear we hit the mark for you.
I failed my theory a few years back after not studying correctly, and just not taking it that seriously. I finally had the courage to re take it, and downloaded this app 3-4 weeks before my test date. I spent at least 20 minutes a day practicing using the app, and managed to get a 50 out of 50 on the multiple choice part of the actual test - I was honestly so shocked!! The only criticism I had was that on one day I was doing practice questions, it seemed to have changed me to the motorcycle part instead of car. Not too sure how that happened, but was easily fixable when I realised the questions were different from previouslyThis app gave me a lot of confidence and I would definitely recommend. Good luck everyone! 👍🏽
