Brilliantly thought through
As a software designer, this is one of the best apps I’ve ever downloaded from the App Store. It focuses on one job, finding and eliminating duplicates, and it does it flawlessly. But there’s more to good software, and there’s more to this app. For example, when you are presented with a list of duplicates, you can preview them individually from within the app, using Quick Look. It’s not just checking file names, it scans the actual file contents for identicial versions, regardless of their name. You can say that you want to remove all versions, not just the duplicates (be careful with that). It will show you similar folders, those with duplicates and unique files. The duplicates can be tossed, the unique ones can’t. It handles invisible files, and network files and folders. Just tell the app which folders you want to clean up (all of them if you want), and you’ll see a beautifully designed dashboard of the results, with different file types in their own tabs.
Pros and Cons
I do have another duplicate file finder [PhotoSweeper]. I use both it and Duplicate File Finder Pro [DFFP] but neither is quite the bees knees. Both do well looking for duplicate images or duplicate files and folders but with images there are often "similar" images which are in fact the very same. They appear differently because of, for example, the quality of a scan and / or colour corrections made in Lightroom or Photoshop. These are frequently missed in both. I am currently going through an image folder of more than 7,000 images. That is the number that remained after using both this software and PhotoSweeper. Additionally, I have deleted another 600 images that are the same image but not recopgnised as such by the two apps- and as a human I find them easy to spot. However I'm not half way through a manual human scan so I expect to find many others. This is the fallability of both apps that I use. I accept this but it means I still have lots to do. Both have saved me many gigs of space - very quickly but I still spend hours tidying up after them. DFFP is best at the identical. If you're happy with that it does a good job. Photographers and archivists of images might feel we're still looking for something better. I am. For now though . . .

Brilliant
I used to use Gemini which was really good but then support ended and it didn't work with the latest OS. Gemini 2 lost some of the features that Gemini had. I started looking around for an alternative and found this and it is awesome, quick, simple and easy to use but still remaining powerful. Wish I had discovered it earlier. I think its better than the original Gemini. Well Done ! - Update: After using this for a while now I am even more impressed. Some great things with Photos Libraries and great setup options. Wish I had been using this before. I did contact support with one question and got an almost instant answer. Still waiting for Gemini to get back to me!. I've also started using another product they do called Disk Space Analyser which is just as good.
