Works well
Initially I installed the free version of this. What they don't tell you until you have worked through your library is that you can only remove duplicates in batches of 15. I had several thousand to process. On that basis, £0.99 seems cheap, but I wish I'd known before I started the assessment of my duplicates. Care is needed if asking the app to judge which to mark for removal, one may loose changes to titles, and any notes etc one has entered. My advice is do it yourself.
Instructions were a bit patchy, but the process is fairly intuitave. The only weak point is you are not told to create the file in 'photos' to which the duplicates are consigned prior to deletion - the instructions imply the app creates this for you which it doesn't.
All in all I'm very pleased.
Instructions must be followed carefully
So close to giving this app 1 star! I thought I was following the steps and couldn’t seem to get it to work. I would end up with an album in photos called duplicate marked photos but there would be no photos in it. They need to stress this point: Once you’ve scanned the library for duplicates, selected the ones you want to trash, and clicked the trash button, you HAVE to have photos open, with ‘all photos’ selected in the side menu before you hit continue at step 3! I had to minimise photos to get back to the app, as it has a tendancy to hide once photos is open. Also did the similar photo option and it works really well. it’s a real time saver.
Not completely intuitive, but pretty good.
I have two computers with thousands of photos on them and need to downsize fairly rapidly! This App found quite a lot of duplicates and similar photos (When I finally figured out how to get my photo folder into the App to be scanned!) However, there’s no option to get rid of both or multiple photos - if the photo isn’t one you want at all, you have to keep at least one - or I am not doing it correctly - one or the other! But, apart from that, I have the App on both computers and, lets face it, for the price, it’s totally worth it!
