Frustrating but problems overcome!
Like many of the reviews read I ended up with a very expensive single gear bike when the firmware upgrade required upon first connection commenced. After about 10% of the upload, the app reported an error and the bike became totally unresponsive.
To reset the system I had to remove the battery (in my seat post) and after about a minute reconnect restoring function to the gears. I then went into my Bluetooth settings to forget the paired device before reconnecting using the passcode I had entered prior to the upgrade.
This time the app connected and the upgrade was installed successfully.
After all that initial disappointment, I did enjoy being able to customise my bike and refine the settings for each control.
No problems just a wish list.
I had no problems with downloading and updating using my mobile phone. My only problem (if that’s what it is) is that I can only select a 11-34 maximum size cassette for my GRX di2 in the app. I have fitted a Wolf Tooth hanger extension and now run an 11-42 which does not appear in the selection settings in the app. Shimano if you are reading this please change the app to allow a broader range of cassettes for those who make modifications like to their bikes.
Great way to set up your Ebike
So I have used this app on my Orbea Ebike .. You can use it to update software .. set the power for the Eco/trail/boost and see battery life. Whilst is not without fault it’s also not that bad 🙂
