Superb free app, great features
A full moving map GPS with airspace updates that runs on your phone and is 100% free. Great features, cockpit friendly, and a fantastic backup safety aid, especially if you fly map and compass or traditional navaids. Hats off to NATS for sponsoring this app rather than just closing off vast swathes of airspace then criticising GA pilots for busting it...
I love the app - the airspace data and it's regular updates gives me a lot of confidence when flying out of my base which is located near a lot of controlled airspace. What's shown on screen matches my paper map very well.
I give 4 stars because the interface could use some attention - aside from looking outdated, it's less than intuitive when I'm clicking an area and trying to view the airspace/NOTAMs quickly. Also, the airspace labels are often hidden behind other objects and it's not easy to see which section they correspond to when you're looking at a dense CTA. Maybe they could be aligned along the boundaries like on the proper charts?
This is a tremendously useful navigation app for the student pilot. Free for the basic version for familiarisation and to learn from, and low cost thereafter. Works well on IPhone strapped to knee. Used correctly, it speeds up the process of learning to map read from hard copy charts. Highly recommended.
Up to six family members will be able to use this app with Family Sharing enabled.
