I have been an eBay member for many years with at least 9 years using the iPhone app without any problems on any phone. However, it’s now not accessible as the newest version requires iOS 17. How ridiculous is that?! It basically means anyone with an iPhone more than about 18 months old is unable to use it. This is happening more and more with certain “big company” apps, eg I was also unable to use the Ford Pro app after their latest change. As it happens I just bought a replacement iPhone last week which fortunately does have iOS 18 so both apps are now accessible to me. But it seems like certain companies are simply part of the problem whereby people are encouraged to replace their phone on an almost annual basis. Consumerism at its worst, and I would have thought eBay, which actively encourages buying second hand items, which is better for the environment, as well as helping small businesses and private individuals to earn a living instead of it being the big companies always getting the customers. The description for the app actually says it gives everyone “the freedom to buy and sell just about anything”, bit that just isn’t true when so many members are now unable to access the app. It actually means there will be members who have sales but can’t access the buyers’ details to send items out. This could lead to buyers unable to receive items they’ve paid for and consequently poor feedback for the sellers.
