Elgato Avea 4+

This is my second Bluetooth controlled LED bulb. The previous one being a cheap one from China where the bulb was average but the app was good. This however, the bulb is good and bright but the app is quite frustrating. It only has pre-set "moods" then solid colours at the bottom. The majority of the time, I intend to use solid colours (mainly white) so that should be at the top. Otherwise, you can't do anything else with the app. My previous bulb had a full colour wheel where you could simply tap on an area of the screen and get that colour. And a colour selector function using your phone's camera to pick out colours; gimmicky but intuitive. And it had things like party modes so you can colour fade or strobe. And a music mode so it was beat to the music playing from your phone. This app only has preset moods, solid colours and a wake up function, all of which my cheaper bulb had plus much more.

The bulb is good. Improve the app please!!

I would prefer it if the controls were switched, rather that tap for customise and swipe for activate, I think it would be more intuitive for Tap to activate and swipe to access the customisation.

It would also be better if the user could add themes.

The app it's self is very attractive and there is very little delay, but that is to be expected when working with Bluetooth.

The Avea Flare is still on the markets even if not produced anymore by the company but the company has decided to stop all app support. The first signs came with WatchOS 5 when the app disappeared from the Apple Watch. Now the app is not working properly on iOS 13.1 with the function to change the wake up time causing the app to crash. I believe this is not the way to treat customers who purchased this expensive item especially when it is still available on the market. My negative reviews won’t stop here if there is no change in the way this app is supported. I’m not upset at the company, I’m just sorry for the customers who may be lured to purchase something expensive which no longer works as intended. The same kind of lamp can be purchased from Philips and the support is a lot better.
