Description

The official app for setting up and controlling the EO Mini Pro 2 & EO Mini Smart Home.

At EO Charging, we’re working to make electric vehicle charging simple. From plugging-in to monitoring your energy usage, the EO Smart Home app will put power to your fingertips.

Control your EO Mini charger, schedule your charging sessions and monitor energy usage from your solar panels all within the app. We’ve made setup simple, because charging your electric vehicle should be hassle-free.

Key features of the app:
• Start and stop your vehicle charge using the app
• Schedule charging – tell the app when you need your car to be ready and we’ll optimise charging to make it as cheap as possible
• Monitor energy usage – take full control of your energy usage profile and track your plug-in session over time
• Solar charging – the EO Smart Home app will charge your car at the same rate as solar generation, topping it up from the grid to meet your minimum rate of charge
• Charge session history – manage or download your previous charging sessions, expense your energy costs or email a receipt to whoever pays the bills
• Support – contact our support team directly through the app if you face any problems when charging
The EO Smart Home app is our first step in creating a controllable and connected energy ecosystem for your electric vehicle. Keep your eyes peeled for new features we’ll be introducing over the coming months.

Some features require a working internet connection, Wi-Fi, and/or Bluetooth.

Backward step from Enelx and miniPro1

This is a poorly designed and implemented App, which lacks basic functionality. It’s only redeeming feature is that it is at least managed by EO so you can complain to them direct and get some degree of response, even if it’s just a shrug to say no that doesn’t work. Might you want to control the amount of charge going into your EV, e.g set a battery limit- no sorry that doesn’t work. Can I look at a charge sequence in graphical form -yes, but there’s no y-axis variable, the x axis covers the whole period that the car is plugged in with no ability to zoom and a child with a wax crayon could produce a better quality graphic. This is an App for an EVSE user that relies upon the App in their car to control the charge. Dire, and a real disappointment for someone that had one of the first EO miniPros1 fitted. Really good hardware but such poor software.

Poor reviews due to 5ghz WiFi?

The app functionality and UI is basic but sufficient.

Note that if your EV manufacturer has it’s own app (e.g. to schedule charging and check status) then you don’t have to ever use this EO Mini app anyway.

If you do intend to use this app, it’s important to note that the EO Mini Pro charger can only connect to 2.4ghz WiFi channels.

Modern WiFi routers are usually dual-band (2.4ghz and 5ghz). Default settings on most routers will automatically toggle between the two bands.

This will cause connectivity instability with the EO Mini Pro charger.

For stable connectivity, you need to set up the charger to a dedicated 2.4ghz channel.

The best method is to configure your ‘guest’ WiFi router network as 2.4ghz only (toggle off the 5ghz channel in the WiFi router settings). Then connect the EO Mini Pro charger to your ‘guest’ WiFi network.

This is generally the case with any ‘smart’ device, like smart speakers or WiFi connected light switches etc.. ‘smart’ devices generally only work on the 2.4ghz channel. If connected to a default settings dual-band WiFi router, you'll experience unstable connectivity.

Your ‘smarter’ devices (phones, tablets, pc etc) will work best when connected to your main WiFi network, with both the 2.4ghz and 5ghz channels enabled.

Rubbish App

Update- still disappointed. App has now lost connection to the hub. This means I have to go through the arduous process of setting it up AGAIN! Because this stupid device wont charge my car UNLESS it is online! I am so so so frustrated by what could be a great device!

Lets face it. I bought the EO Mini Pro 2 for its size and thats it. The app is a waste of space. Takes a long time to pair to my wifi and also is difficult to setup. The APP layout and features are all but non existent. Its safe to say dont expect to actually see anything that useful apart from a bit of history! My colleague has a Hypervolt charger and their app is amazing! It gives you so much detailed information compared to this. Overall. Great device and its discreet, which for where I am in London is wonderful and stops it being spotted by thugs wanting to rip it off the wall. However, if it an app with detailed usage, graphs, settings, information clearly laid out in an interactive and useful way. THIS IS NOT IT!
