Are you ready for e-mobility?
Mercedes-Benz Electric Ready provides a digital e-mobility test-drive. The new app helps you to decide if you’re ready to make the switch to the new line of Mercedes-EQ electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles of Mercedes-Benz. Compare your current non-electric car with various vehicles from our portfolio and learn how they will fit into your daily driving routine. We prepared a 7 day challenge for you to experience what the benefits of driving an electric vehicle are. What does this mean? Taking different environmental conditions into account such as outside temperatures and personal driving behavior, our algorithm calculates your personal electric energy needs. The app will give you information about the charging infrastructure along your routes on a daily basis. After 7 days you will get your final results. Are you ready?
Also when you are not driving, you can take a look at the available charging infrastructure or you can predict the energy consumption for specific routes directly.

• Do not interact with the app while driving.

In principal good. A couple of annoying bugs.
On the plus side the app does a reasonably accurate job of telling you the battery you’d have used in an electric car and having tried it alongside the actual car it is pretty close. However there are 2 flaws with the app. First it sometimes duplicates a journey leading to misleading battery consumption. Secondly it doesn’t show realistic charge rates - for example on a smart for four in the UK you get a 22kwh capable vehicle. The app still shows a 4.8kwh rate on a rapid charger so you can be hoodwinked into thinking it takes a lot longer to charge.

Accurate?
Not entirely convinced that this provides accurate detail. Having covered 400+ miles during the course of a week the app suggests that if driving an EQC it would have required only 1 full charge to cover the distance. This seems realistic enough. However, the average consumption rate suggests 66Kwh/100km. Tried to contact Mercedes to obtain an explanation and seek advice but they so far have failed to reply. If the average consumption is to be believed this would result in a very limited range.
