Etsy Seller: Manage Your Shop 4+

I mostly use the website, and did use the old app, but I thought I’d give this app a go to create a listing. I had a quick look at the stats and found that okay to look at. However, I have got well in the middle of creating a listing, typing in my product description having added photos, video, title and so on, then I get a blank screen with the updating rotating black circular thingymabob. The first time I left it ten minutes, checked my router, my internet, Instagram and everything working fine so I press the back arrow and lose my listing. I start again, get well into typing up my product description and it’s gone again, mid-word. I’ve checked the App Store and I have the latest version, with the last update a week ago. It’s been another 10 minutes and nothing has changed. One of the most important things on a seller app is the ability to sell things. I will go back to the website and avoid this app. 😒

I have been using Etsy seller since 2019, and I saw absolutely no issue with the old Etsy seller app, I don't see why this change was necessary, all this app has brought are problems and bugs. I create products that are made to order, and it's a requirement for me to send photos back and forth to make sure that my customers are happy with what I have made before it's shipped, but photos will either not send, or send multiple times! It's incredibly unprofessional on my part. While I am now using email to send photos back and forth, I should not have to! It is incredibly frustrating not being able to use this app without it breaking/crashing every 5 minutes. Another feature they have changed, (to my knowledge) is that you can no longer manage multiple shops from one device. What is the reason behind removing that feature? It was incredibly helpful because you did not have to keep logging in and out of accounts to see your notifications or if you had a new order. These are only a couple of the problems that come with this app, let alone the complaints from other sellers I have seen. Please listen to your users or they will start to find other platforms to sell their goods.

I love using Etsy in general but there was just no need for this new app and I wish they had asked the users’ opinion before deciding to delete the old app for this replacement.
Whilst I do really like some of the new features, the original app functions much better and is a lot more user friendly. The only thing I don’t use the original app for is creating a new listing. For this I go on the Etsy website because there are a few more options.
The new app still has a few function problems, like the issue with messages several other people have mentioned, but I assume these will be fixed before deleting the original one.
I also personally don’t like the change in text size on several pages. It’s much too small and I struggle with some parts.
This app is generally a lot more complicated to use. They appear to have tried to make it more like a website rather than an app, which just doesn’t work well on mobile devices.
Simplicity is the way to go.
I’m not sure why they have decided to completely change the app rather than just performing small updates over time to the original app, like all other apps do. Small changes over time are easier to adapt to.
Overall, the new app has some great new features but is less user friendly.
