The best and worse about the experience

Before anything I would like to say that travelling with Eurostar is the best experience ever. It’s the fastest to travel, sometimes the most economical and the trains are superb. I have just two negative points to report: there is NO bar nor duty free in Brussels and food/drinks/souvenirs/sweets/toiletteries etc for sale are much more expensive than in any shop. My advice is that you buy your food/drinks/souvenirs before entering and anywhere else. Secondly and, as a Northern Belgian I find this really annoying and pathetic : the staff onboard speak abominable Flemish/Dutch. You hardly understand anything they say; the accent is overly French (despite the fact that their English is good and clear!?). It comes over as if the staff think that our language is inferior and they need to talk this way??? If this is not the way, then tell them NOT to say anything in their pathetic rabble - every Flemish/Dutch person starts scoffing or laughing anyway when your staff talk in what they think is Flemish/Dutch. thank you.

Arrogant boarder officer

Yesterday I returned from Paris to England where I have lived for seven years. At 11:00, I went through passport control. I have a European Union passport with a chip and my settle status in the UK is recorded there, I have been using the passport during my visits to Prague (flying) for many years and I have never had a problem with check-in. Yesterday I got to the front of a French customs officer who from the first moment behaved absolutely arrogant, obviously bored with his job and when he told me that I had changed my shape and my passport was not mine, I was in shock. After seeing the photo, his colleague did not agree with him and confirmed my appearance. Nevertheless, the customs officer threatened to detain me and told me that I would probably need a lawyer. As I tried to deal with the situation with a slight smile, he began to behave even more arrogant. My husband and his colleague stood up for me, so in the end he let me continue to check the scan where I passed without any difficulty. However, the train has already passed us, fortunately Eurostar issued tickets for the next train at 12:13. However, he was one hour late, so we did not have time to get paid by bus to Plymouth. Paris was beautiful, but the customs officer should be broken immediately, because it is possible for his behavior to ruin the holidays of many people. I will probably only warn everyone before visiting Paris.

Appalling non functional app, Eurostar incompetence

Eurostar give you a set of completely nonsensical directions regarding having your ticket on your mobile. They continually say you can do this, fail on every occasion to tell you how, and then when you going through their joke of a website all it does is email you. At no point is there a ticket viewable on their app, and nowhere on their website or in app does it show you how you might find this. To make things worse, Eurostar, to round out their array of incompetence and deception, tell you you cans imply print tickets out at the station if you were unable to at home. No, you can’t. When you arrive at the station, this does not work and the stafff will only at this point, just before you have to leave, tell you they can’t print it out as it you ‘chose to print’. So Eurostar for some reason only know to themselves ensure you have one opportunity to choose whether to print tickets at home or at the station, then make it impossible for you to change this later, when you are in desperate need of doing so. It’s an imbecilic and pathetic policy. I only managed to travel by refusing to move from the line in the Eurostar office until they gave me the ticket I had paid a lot fo money for, and was promised I could simply get at the station. Useless, awful company.
