Description
Weather Awareness Service for your Electronic Flight Bag
eWAS provides airline pilots a complete weather situation for their flights. The application presents the last observations and forecasts in an innovative horizontal and vertical view providing a clear 4D view with the time. eWAS data can be used at ground for a better flight preparation and even onboard the aircraft to receive continuous updates during the flight. Thanks to specific integration onboard the aircraft, data can be received by satellite and even by ACARS communication. New data format and compression allow eWAS to uplink forecast with a very limited bandwidth to limit the communication costs. ATC flight plan can be directly requested to the eWAS ground servers or copy paste from the flight folder.
eWAS offers the following weather data:

Highly customizable, the application allows to define an airline policy with various options including the selections of various weather providers. Specific connection to the Airline OCC can also be requested to get for example flight plans and airports.

SITA eWAS 3.7 has a set of new features. These are the release notes of SITA eWAS v3.7.

- Fuel On Board on Vertical Profile: The vertical display now includes the planned remaining fuel for the active flight on
the OFP Flight Plans option.

Ratings and Reviews
Excellent weather info
Relatively new to this app and only being using it for 2 months on long haul route’s. I’ve been using it in tandem with my company’s provided weather app and paperwork and have found this to be superior and unerringly accurate.
The flight and weather load extremely quickly. Once airborne I adjust my takeoff time and that’s it. I particularly like the vertical wind and turbulence view aiding climb planning. My only minor gripe is that the plan turbulence need repeated tapping to assertion whether the turbulence relates to our level. Poss be good if I could select a flight level band to be displayed as for cruise not really interested in low level turbulence. I’m guessing somebody will prob tell me how to do it .

Great system
I have used this app on several flights now, both long and short haul, and it has proved to be the most accurate information on turbulence that is available. When normal sig’ weather charts show nothing at all, this app gives very accurate predictions.
Good system
Really like the app. I have been using it for 2 months now on European short-haul flights.
The only issue I have with it, is that it uses 3 sources for turbulence data:
- WSI
- Met France
- Schneider Electric
This is akin to hedging your bets; quite often it increases the size of area of estimated turbulence threefold as they rarely all agree. And as a total result I have found this reasonably unreliable. Just pick one that you think is most reliable.
Other than this one issue it is by far the best commercial weather app I’ve seen!
