F-Secure
I have been using this app for a couple of months now and so far I’ve not had anything go wrong with it. I particularly like the alarm setting which will give a very loud alarm to anyone who might have your phone if it goes missing. It also tracks your phone also (you need to access the desktop version on your computer to see where your phone is and setting the alarm also)
The menu on F-Secure is very easy to use, which displays in picture form that you click into different categories.
All in all a great app to have and also a good app for peace of mind that you are covered from adds, and gives great peace of mind to know you are protected.
No longer fit for purpose
I’ve used F-secure very successfully for some years but in the last few months, the app has started massively draining my iPhone battery (50-70% in 24 hours)…which is a big inconvenience in the home and renders the phone all but unusable out of the home, such that I’m now having to invest in a battery pack to bridge a few hours here and there.
I, and others, have logged the issue on the F-secure community…no response….although it seems some have had private responses??
Another on-going issue is that the password manager only works intermittently, requiring me to copy/ paste into password fields. Another inconvenience and one that was manageable until the battery drain issue appeared.
I’ve tried to call both the UK office and Tech Support to no avail so I’m left with no choice but to use some time over Xmas to research another tool as I cannot continue using F-secure in its current state.
F secure safe
I downloaded this App as it was part of a Virgin Media promotion with a 3 month free trial. On the plus side it does not seem to slow down my IPhone or iPad but it does not appear to be doing anything and it does not seem possible to scan the device. Not sure I want to pay money for something that gives no obvious protection.
I have looked on F Secure’s web site and it appears to be slightly cheaper on there and with more extras.
