Finances 2 4+

I've been looking for the last 6 months for an app to replace the database I've used for years to keep tabs on my personal accounting.

Finances 2 is everything a good Macintosh app should be - straightforward, intuitive and powerful with an excellent import function. I transferred all my old accounting data via CSV files into Finances 2 in a couple of hours.

I looked at several personal budgeting apps and they weren't up to handling my personal accounts. So, if you have more complex personal accounts, Finances 2 will definitely do the job. Having also run some business accounts in the past, I expect Finances 2 could handle accounting for many small businesses.

It would be nice to have some more control over how data is viewed and displayed. For example, it is possible to select to view uncleared transactions but not to select to view cleared transaction. A rather more comprehensive and downloadable PDF user manual would be good as well rather than just the online guide.

So far this app has been perfect for all my personal accounting needs. It helps me keep track, budget and forsee distant purchases. I am super happy!

Also syncs between by phone and mac flawlessly!

Design is colour coded and easy to follow. Handy instuctions when I first started as well! 5*!

So I’ve tried what feels like hundreds of apps to track my finances. None of them however stuck and were able to support my needs across multiple accounts, credit cards, cash, different currencies, interest rates, random expenses, incoming money and stay on top of it all. This app allows for all of that. It’s still a 1.0 so there is plenty of places this app can go. Hopefully the developer will continue to add features (graphs across categories and across a year would be useful to review trends), but ultimately if you’re serious about keeping abreast of what you’ve got in the bank and what your expenses are now and likely to be by the end of the year (another great feature), then honestly look no further.
