Find My iPhone:
If you misplace your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac, the Find My iPhone app will let you use any iOS device to find it and protect your data. Simply install this free app, open it, and sign in with the Apple ID you use for iCloud. Find My iPhone will help you locate your missing device on a map, remotely lock it, play a sound, display a message, or erase all the data on it.
For missing iOS devices, Find My iPhone also includes Lost Mode. Lost Mode locks your device with a passcode and can display a custom message and contact phone number right on the Lock Screen. While in Lost Mode, your device can keep track of where it has been and report back so you can view its recent location history, right from the Find My iPhone app.
Please note that Find My iPhone must be enabled in iCloud settings on your device before you can locate it with this app.

How Your Data is Used
When you use Find My iPhone, your device’s location and information about your device and your account will be sent to and retained by Apple. This enables Apple to provide you with this service. Your device location is only sent to Apple if you actively request the location of a device or accessory. If you choose to enable the Send Last Location feature, your device’s last known location will be sent to Apple automatically whenever your device’s battery reaches a critically low level. Apple retains location information and makes it accessible to you for 24 hours. It is then deleted.

REQUIREMENTS

No 5 stars because of 1 tiny fault
I misplaced my iPhone 6plus and on my iPad I tried finding it via maps and it said my phone was 5 mins away from my home !? I knew it was wrong as I've never BEEN where it said my phone is as it's a block of flats and unless somebody's thrown my phone across 1 block of flats , a road, a small park and a huge clump of trees I'm not sure anybody could do that 😑 any who. I then used the sound thing and found it under my bed but a huge fault with Apple they are usually rather good but. Not this time.
Amazing! Found my iPad
After almost a year since I lost my iPad, I got a notification of its location. (I had tried find my iPhone many time earlier but I guessed the person who stole it couldn’t crack it’s passcode). I immediately locked it and used the GPS to trace it. I was led to a house and the man who had my iPad knew the game was up. Thank goodness he couldn’t crack the passcode for 10 months! He lied that he found it in the bush and ran away after handing it over to me 😂. The iPad was always in my room and I’d never met this man in my life so I’ve not figured out yet how he got it. Anyway thanks to this app, my iPad is safely home after it’s sojourn in strange hands
Thank you for such a great app
My partners phone was stolen the other day. I used the 'find my phone' app on my iPhone.
Within an hour I had found the phone and had it back with my partner.
It emailed us the tracks it had taken and the route it had been. It pinpointed exactly where it was. Proof is in the pudding and with out this app we would never had got her phone back.
Speaking from experience, an idea to the developers would be great if when the person that 'finds' the phone presses the main button it takes a screen shot of the person and emails it direct to the iPhone that's trying to find it.
It could be done as it emailed us when the phone had been tampered with and the route they had taken to dump the phone after being confronted. Just by having the screen shot would have confirmed it was the person I confronted and they denied it.
At least we got the phone back. This App is a must for all iPhone users. I can't thank these developers of this App enough.
