Introducing the “I Can't Speak” Series.
The “I Can't Speak” series are books that aim to teach children how to speak 3 Nigerian languages - Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo - through the medium of story-telling.

The books are interactive and use audio narration of the story so the reader can hear what the language words sound like in addition to seeing how they are spelt. The books also provide dedicated audio buttons for every word introduced on each page so it can be listened to repeatedly for pronunciation practice.

Enjoy the books and look out for Series 2 and other Finder Publications books.

Great for the kids and my wife

I am Nigerian and married to an English woman and we have two boys. My eldest who is 3 has really enjoyed the ‘I can’t speak Yoruba’ book and it’s become a regular part of our bedtime routine. Not only does it allow him to explore this new language, he loves the interactive nature of the app as he repeats the key words you can press at the end of the page. He’s not at a stage where he can incorporate the words into his vocabulary but it’s made reading stories more fun for the both of us and I feel a sense of pride as I can sense he has a genuine interest in my culture (or so I feel anyway). It’s also been really useful for the wife as she is picking up on the odd Yoruba word here and there, raising eyebrows whenever we go to family functions.

Overall, a solid 5 star app which is intuitive as well as informative (won’t lie, didn’t know the Yoruba word for toes). Definitely need more books/apps like this that celebrate the culture and teach the new generation in the diaspora our languages.

Great app!

I really enjoyed interacting with these books on the app. The design is so elegant and user friendly and the narrators really bring the sweet stories to life! Lovely illustrations too.

As an educator, I believe this series will play a big role in revolutionising the way our kids learn to value the richness of our precious, beautiful and diverse heritage through language.

Great job Finder!

Great

I love this app, this is a good app to help keep our language being spoken with younger generations. We need more of this so I can learn some more vocabulary like days of the week which I am afraid I don’t know. Big thanks for this.👍🏾
